I have the glitch where I cannot invade Fort Greenwall (The Rift) due to their being no stormcloaks there. I've tried everything possible but nothing works. So, I cannot progress.

If I continue the main quest to the point of the treaty, will it automatically complete this quest for me? Also, can I go back and finish the Civil War before the main quest at that point? Or, would I then have to go all the way through the main quest to return to the Civil War.

Any help would be appreciated as I am completely stuck with no way to continue the civil war. Thank you.

if i am not mistaken, you will just fail the quest but still go on in the regular quests as if you had still done it. i am almost positive of this.

Not sure if it will work, but you could try completing the Treaty quest by handing The Rift to the Imperials and afterwards continuing the Civil War quests as you like.
