Good Supply of Arrows?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 8:09 pm

So where can I get a steady stream of arrows? I run out fairly quickly and I don't want to use the target-shooting glitch with NPCs to get my arrows. I'd also like to have ONE kind of arrow, not 50 of 10 types as to reduce the amount of time it takes to switch between arrows.

So is there a shop that sells specifically arrows or has a high amount of them?

Go to solitude, go to the shooting range. Pickpocket the one who is shooting and plant 1 arrow of your choice on to him. Wait for him to go to his bed and pickpocket his arrows (all). Wait til the next day and he will be shooting your arrows of choice.

There's the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun, as well as Fletcher's in Solitude. That's where I usually buy arrows. Those two shops seem to have larger quantities of arrows than most.

Did you read my post at all?

And thanks Vermilion, I'll check both of those out. Also, quick question, since most of the damage from archery comes from your enchants, is the type of arrow/bow you use a big deal? I've been meaning to test it out but have yet to get around to it.

Basically, could I use an Elven bow with iron arrows and still get close to the damage output of Daedric bow with Daedric arrows?

I'm sorry, I didn't know that was the name of the glitch.

I never use enchantments on the bow, I just use good bows and arrows and then I sneak kill them, kills most of the enemies in a few shots/ one shot.

Close? Depends on your definition of close, really, but it's usually close enough for my purposes (with all the archery perks, anyway). I like to use whatever bow/arrows matches my armor, and usually don't have trouble killing anything.

I mean enchantments on armor. Fortify Archery on 4 pieces of armor gives 160% damage increase.

Yes, I don't like using Elven armor with my Ebony bow, that's why I was wondering.

Learn the Bound Bow. It's a good investment!

Yeah, adding those Fortify Archery enchants helps a ton. I use Elven bow and arrows, and with the bow improved as much as I can (usually with a fire or fiery soul trap enchant) plus a couple of pieces of Fortify Archery gear, plus the sneak attack and Overdraw perks... Yeah, you shouldn't have trouble making things dead.

Except the bound arrows never disappear, which bloats your save file.

By the time you get that bow, summon bow doesn't weigh and very strong in the beginning of the game and free. Plus OP wants arrows and bound bow gives 100 arrows at each spell cast.

I am OP. >.>

I don't want to have to worry about summoning a bow every time I go into combat, or worry about it potentially running out of time during an engagement, nor do I want the much lower damage on it. I'll stick to real bows, thankya.

Lol don't get mad, I'm just saying that there are plenty of cons to the bound bow that doesn't make it worth using just for the unlimited arrows.

I just buy the best arrows that Drunken Huntsman has available for my character level... right now, those are glass, and he usually has a nice stack of them. Ebony should start showing up in smaller quantities in a couple more levels (32 right now).

I went to the Drunkan Huntsman, he had 100 ebony arrows for about 18 each. I went and hunted some dragons for the cash, but I got em. Have yet to go to the Solitude shop.

First as other says, arrow quality does not matter to much, however if you have companions give them the best type you can get, they drop more arrows than they use up.

I used ancient nordic and steel arrows from enemies, iron was an fallback forever, at higher levels you have to much money and you can just buy all the good arrows you find in stores.
