I sold mine and became Guild master. Did you do the quest to upgrade a piece? I am not sure if that will effect it but I know it was part of the quest line. I only did the upgrade on one piece.

You need to upgrade one piece only to become Guild Master. If you sold ALL your armor without upgrading any piece, you are SOL

So you cant sell that lute that does nothing, but you can sell armour that you need to complete a quest? That is a smart move. Anyway i can buy it back?

I think so if you can find the vendor you sold it too but if it was been more than two days, the armor is gone forever. Yes I agree that not telling you the armor is needed for a quest is a dumb move

No you can't, they will likely fix this in the upcoming patches though.

I usually sell all the armor pieces except the hood, which gives a nice price bonus. Then I just upgrade that, use it until I find a better price bonus head piece.

You need to give a piece of armor to be upgraded to tonilia. If you sold the armor, you can't talk to her about anything else.

I sold my armor early on and it's gone now. Now I can't become Guild Master, I can't get the trophy, and I can't sell stolen items to that girl in the Guild.

At least you got to join the Thieve's guild. I can't because Brynjolf's schedule is fudged.
