Reapers

So I was playing my restarted mage last night and ran across an intersting quest involving the Falmer. The final boss was one of the spitting
scorpion cockroaches they keep as pets but it was of the reaper variety. Now I had run across them before and they looked the same as
the regular ones just a harder fight. This one though was frickin huge! About ten times the size of the regular ones. I am wondering why they
aren't all like that. It took a bit as I was on my way to the CoW to upgrade so I didn't have the best tools but it was still a fun tactical
fight to get past him. I liked the reward too. All I can say is check out the lighthouse between Dawnstar and Winterhold.

One of my favorite quests to "stumble upon" (pun intended....) I'm sad for the family, but the questline showed the sort of creative thinking I've come to expect from Beth....

My question is, do the Chaurus have Larvae, or are they Larvae for something worse. Would make a great DLC if the Falmer invade Skyrim as has been hinted at, and they have Dragon sized flying Chaurus things.

Larvae typically don't have tough exoskeletons.... which the chaurus do, and the Falmer make their armor and stuff out of it.

Are Chaurus' (Chauri?) regular insects, they have a different amount of legs and probably other things someone with a high entomology skill could point out. And maybe compared to the second stage of Chaurus' life cycle the regular Chaurus have just soft little exoskeletons. Also do you pronounce it like Tchore-us or Koor-us?

LOL, I just imagined someone going to college and looking for the Entomology trainer to buy a few skill levels... But I have to pronounce it tchore-us because I do choir-y things in real life and it seems weird to pronounce it koor-us.

Strictly speaking, insects tend to have 6 legs and a pair of antennae. I've never actually stopped to count how many legs a chaurus has, but they ain't got antennae.

This is Nirn, mind you, so not everything necessarily has to mirror Earth, but chaurus seem to resemble other types of arthropods more closely IMO.

I've wondered about how one is supposed to pronounce "chaurus". I usually use the latter in my mind.
