the most overunder represented races of skyrim

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 6:31 am

hi everyone, this topic has been discussed before but i dont think anybody has put up a poll on it-so to business

my question is: what race did you think was the most over represented or under represented? i suspect there will be a landslide here but i am interested to see your thinkings!

please post

fisher

PS. MY VOTE AND WHY:

over: close tie between nords and imperials, both of which would have a lot of influancei n skyrim anyway, but i nthe end i choose nord because they dominate imperial culture in many ways

under: this one was much easier, its easily khajiit. i was shocked and really dissapointed at how little they actually feature in skyrim, i dont belive they have any significant quest lines, or are even involed in them. the only khajiit i have seen in a actually walled city was the one you findi n riften, but she is quest releated and only shows up in "a cornered rat" and you kill her anyway.
to be honest khajiit ( in my words) have been highly slated in this game, they have been reduced to the WHOLE race being theiving, dirty, unitelligent "milk-drinkers" who are so mistrusted they arnt even allowed in the city!

EDIT: damn i forgot the poll, however you can still post by commenting, im very sorry about this...

Over: NORD for sure, unless you want to be a mage, High Elf or Brentons.
Under: I have to disagree on Khajit, they make GREAT theives and no equipment fighting, forget it, they rock!
Under I'd say Rengard. Why care about poison when it doesn't do that much to you and shrines are EVERYWHERE?

Over is Nord without a question.
I'd have to agree with johnrexb that underrepresented is Redguard. I was thinking Argonian and Khajit until I saw him say Redguard...and I realized that I had completely forgotten that they existed.

Under definitely the Bretons, I always play a Breton for the simple fact that his race comes with an innate 25% resistance to magic, which is the best race perk in the game.

Over are High Elves (or atleast occording to themselves). I don't know, the Thlamor really seem to pop up
everywhere.

Kajhit, It makes this one is sad. I'm with Redguard being too, it seems that I only see them as bandits.

Over: None. There may be a strong High Elven, Nord and Imperial presence both in numbers and featuring in the quests but given the location and story thats hardly surprising.
Under: Khajiit followed by Bosmer. Can't even marry them.

Over = Nords. But then it is Skyrim so if there were not a lot of Nords there, it would have been even worse. Similar to the Dunmer in Morrowind.

Under = Khajiit. Again it is Skyrim, so if there were more of them it would have been worse. To be honest I am surprised the beast races made it into Skyrim at all. I could easily justify them not being there.

EDIT: You know, I think I can turn this around based on the OP's actual question. The Nords are under represented as there should have been more of them. The Khajiit are over represented as there shouldn't have been any of them. (No this is not Khajiit hate. I love Khajiit's personally).

Who cares? And people are actually of the opinion that Nords are over-represented... in their native land? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Under is Khajitt by a mile, Over is certainly Nord but Skyrim is the home province.

Too many Nords. I know it's their province, but it would be MUCH better like this:
Imagine many Nords escaping their homeland because of the war/dragons. More political problems would show up, the economy would become cheaper so the other races (especially Khajiit and Arognians) would be able to buy houses. That way, we'd only have interesting and active Nords and more foreign folk.

On the other hand, I expected more Orcs. Thought they'd have a city or two on their own, not just camps.

How many named Bretons are in this game? I can't think of a single one let alone a quest involving one. Granted, I have not completed the game so maybe I am missing some. Still, there are named Khajiit in the game and there are quest for them. Then there is Maiq the Liar. To say the Khajiit is underrepresented is a bit short-sighted.

Redguards also seem underrepresented but they do have the Saadia quest which is more than I can say for the Bretons.

I was gonna say Breton, but that's a lot more than I thought..

edit: Wait, Senna is an Imperial, I think. Laelette might be a Nord. Why does she join the Stormcloaks and live in a backwoods Nord village?

Over: No one as the homeland of its respective race should have more of them.

Under: Imperials. Seeing as how the nords are basicaly their best friends I would have expected more Imperials even more so say in like Riften or falkreath which are right next to the border with cyrodiil

most people assume the bretons in the game are nords. theyre hard to distinguish (as they should be)

as for the khajiit being underrepresented thats complete [censored] because they explained that the nords dont let khajiit inside the city walls because nords are racist pricks. most cities have a khajiit camp right outside the walls maybe if you werent too busy fast traveling everywhere like a milkdrinker u might notice them. ive also found named khajiit merchant coupes wandering the roads u milkdrinking fast-traveler

wood elves are without a doubt the most underrepresented

this game depicts the aldmeri dominion as strictly high elven but the aldermi dominon was founded by the bosmer camoran dynasty and the bosmer are still a very significant part of the dominion. i was really disappointed when i saw no bosmer thalmor. and then i realized there really arent that many other bosmer in the game either.

I am Khajiit, and I think he is the best character for a Warrior/Theif class... Everytime I see a Nord(The ones that don't have to do anything with quests) I tell him " Hey Nord, did you say hi to my little friend Molag Bal?" - And you know where it goes from there.... Damn Nords.

I think the females bretons are much easier to spot. They're much shorter than Nords, and they have more ovalish features, like Delphine and Mirabelle. Not to mention the voices for some of them are kind of posh.

Under-represented has to be Argonians. I can remember seeing 2 Argonians in the entire game: the dude in the Winking Skeever and the guy in Solitude who wants you to put out the lighthouse. Even for Khajiits I have at least seen a couple dozen or so in the trade caravans or as bandits.

Delphine is a Breton - in the context of the post you quoted it's obvious you mean Breton, not Bosmer.

I dunno if I'd call any race overrepresented, but outside of Strongholds, Orcs are underrepresented, and overall, Argonians are underrepresented.
