My Dead is Dead Adventures

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:46 am

After completing the main quest i decided to give the Dead is Dead playstyle another chanse.

POSSIBLY SPOILER HEAVY

Character/Gameplay setup:

Name: Eirikur Magnuson
Born: 5th of Sun's Dusk 4E 166
Age: 36
Race: Nord
Allignment: Neutral
Weapon Preferences: Bow for ranged and dual wielding one handed for close combat.

Difficulty setting: Expert
Playstyle: Have to eat twice a day, rest once. Can only pick up stuff that benefits me right away (And the occasional treasure 1/Dungeon thats out of character playstyle)

Day 1 Morndas:

Woke up today on a horse carriage dressed in rags and with my hands bound, along with 3 unknown people. Dizzy and not knowing where i was or how i got there. Overheard some talk about an ambush near Darkwater Crossing. The three people on my carriage other than me was Ralof, A Stormcloak warrior. Lemkil of Rorikstead and what turned out to be Ulfric Stormcloak the Jarl of Windhelm.

Shortly after i woke up we rolled in to the small town of Helgen. We stopped at the main square, and got our names called out one by one. Lemkil was obviously scared, and rightly so. To the left of us stood the Preacher the Captain of the Imperial Guard and the Executioner and his executioners block. Lemkil saw what was coming and made a run for it alltho he did not get far reason being the Imperial Archers.

It eventually became my turn to be called up to the block. I had no choise but to approach it. The guard pushed me down on my knees and laid my head on the executioners block. Executioner raised his axe and got ready to finish me of. Lyckily enough tho a Dragon landed on the tower behind him and knocked him of balance, There was my chanse to escape! I eventually regained my balance in all the chaos of guards scrambling around and a dragon burning the town to the ground.
There i saw this Ralof guy again calling on me to follow him. I ran in his direction into a tower where he and Ulfric Stormcloak allready had taken shelter from the dragon.

We eventually made our way out of the town by fighting our way thru basemants, torture chambers, jails and a cave. As we got out of the cave we saw the dragon flying North West right above us. We actually got out of this in one piece. Ralof was aprecciative of the help and asked me to meet him in Riverwood just down the road where his sister lives. So of i went with cautious steps due to the condition i was in and the weapons and armour of poor quality at best.

When i got there i was greeted by Ralof, his sister Gerdur and i guess her husband Hod. They wanted to know what happened so we gave them a brief rundown of past events. Gerdur made sure i felt welcome by helping us to some food and drink and a place to sleep. It was now approaching midnight and we needed a long sleep to get back on track.

Day 2 Tirdas:

Got up fairly early and it turned out both Hod and Ralof was awake. I started that morning with some meat and an ale. Later i got aquainted to the townsfolk of Riverwood and learned that Hod needed some help at the lumbermill. Spent most of the day chopping firewood to repay to what extent i could their hospitality and possibly gain some coin to get some better gear.

Day 3 Middas:

This day did not involve nearly as much woodchopping as the past one did. I found some time to visit the local General Store, there was an argument about some thief chasing inside. I offered my help and learned that they had a break in and the thiefs only took one thing. A golden claw. They gladly accepted and pointed me in the right direction, thought i'd wait to enter Bleak Falls Barrow that they called it untill i felt ready. I did have some time to check out the local fauna, and do some fishing in and around Lake Ilinalta being the Alchemist that i am. after some time of swimming looking for odd fishes i discovered a sunken ship near the shoreline. Naturally alot of barnacles had stuck to the ship, you never know when those might come in handy. It was now getting dark and time to head back to Riverwood for some food and rest.

Day 4 Turdas:

More exploring west of Riverwood, i found this ragged cabin in the forest. Turned out the owner of the cabin was an old lady named Anise, I tried talking to talk to her but i guess she was a woman of few words. unlike me i proceeded by snooping around her cabin and found this hatch in the floor and i just had to pick that lock and see what was hiding down there. In the basemant i found some ingredients for my alchemy training.. so i stole everything i could find that could be of use to me. Also i found this disturbing note adressed to her sister saying something about a coven. This must mean trouble so i left the basemant as quietly as i could and started running towards Riverwood once again. The Witch knew what i had done tho so she started casting all these spells at me.. after a long and hairy fight i had finally prevailed, after my first near deth experience. Never mess with a witch again if i can do anything to avoid it. I resumed my journey and went North looking for more alchemy ingredients. Eventually after a short trip i saw this city in the distance. Made my way towards it. At the gates i got halted by a guard saying the city was closed, and official business only. I have some news of the dragon attack in helgen i said, and he let me in and gave me direction to the Jarl. Before i went there i visited the local stores, Arcadias Cauldron being the most interesting one. There i started my alchemy experimenting from all the ingredients i had gathered so far. Got some pretty nice poisons done, and some valuable but to me useless potions, Sold the unwanted stuff off and headed to The Bannered Mare for some food and rest.

Day 5 Fredas:

Treated myself to a nice breakfast of the finest Black Briar Reserve and a cooked beef, i also enjoyed a good bar brawl with a woman named Uthgerd, After a long and close fight where none of us were the overpowered fighter i finally beat her and got my 100 gold. She also offered to join me on my travels i gladly accepted. Resumed my adventures by heading up to Dragonsreach, The Jarls palace in Whiterun. on my way there i ran into a priestess of Kynareth who asked if i could help her retrieve an ancient dagger called "Nettlebane" Said it was a tool used by the Hagravens when embalming their dead. I see no harm in a bit of adventures so i accepted. Shortly thereafter i arrived at dragonsreach where the Jarls housecarl Irileth aproached me with weapon drawn. After some explaining i finally got to talk Jarl Balgruuf, Told him all i could remember about the Helgen Dragon attack. He was grateful that i found him on "My own initiative"? I got sent there by Gerdur of Riverwood, wich i also told him.
He took me to see Farengar, the court wizard who apparently had done some research about dragons, He needed me to go to Bleak Falls Barrow to get an ancient stone tablet that was supposed to show the locations of ancient dragon burial sites. Whthout further ado i proceeded with my journey towards Bleak Falls Barrow. We fought some wolves and some bandits before we eventually got there. Well inside we encountered some more bandits that were easily defeated by some well aimed arrows. also some quite simple puzzles and obvious traps laid in the way before the final battle. Against me and Uthgerd was a nasty undead that was alot tougher than the others, and was almost the death of us. But working as a team goes a long way where she took care of the close combat and i shot the mightiest arows i had at it. Turned out Farengar was right, the stone tablet he was looking for was found on the no longer undead but really dead corpse. Also found a staff that looked powerful and could fetch a good price at any shop. And lastly before exiting that godforsaken place there was a wall with some ancient text where i could make out one word. Fus, Made me feel more powerful but i did not yet understand the meaning of it.

Well out of the cave it was now well past midnight and time make haste back to riverwood. stopped by The Sleeping Giant Inn where i found only the bartender and cook. Delphine was nowhere to be found, bartender said she was out but could not tell me where. Alas i could not rent a room that night. Went to Hod and Gerdurs house where i found out i was no longer welcome... Could it have something to do with the worn hat i accidentaly stole a couple of days ago? They eventually went out to the lumbermill tho so i could borrow a bed without them approving of it.

Day 6 Loredas:

Woke up late after that exhausting day yesterday. grabbed a breakfast of some Seared slaughterfish that they oddly had placed underneath a wooden plate, and one of their many ales they had standing everywhere. Went out into the rainy mid day, destination Lucans shop. He was pleased to see that i found him the golden claw that the thieves stole, and gave me a large sum of gold.Onward i went to Whiterun when i just outside of Riverwood got attacked by 3 hired thugs! Another close fight where my follower perished after some brave and ferocious fighting. Eventually i got the last one of them to draw his last breath, on his corpse i found this note saying.

"here is the agreed upon ammount.
I expect you to faithfully carry out my request to teach a lesson to the thief Eirikur Magnusson.
you need not kill him, but i have no qualms about it if you deem it neccesary.

- -Moira"

They obviously deemed it neccesary to kill me since they sure tried!

Resumed my travels towards Whiterun and Dragonsreach. Went to Farengar, and who i found there with him was highly unexpected.. Delphine the innkeeper from Riverwood, dressed from top to toe in armour and a mighty blade! Both Farengar and Delphine was happy that i managed to find the dragonstone and was surprised that i made it out alive.. i must say, so am i.

Out of nowhere came Irileth who had news of a dragon sighting at the Western Watchtower. We all went upstairs and got our orders from Jarl Balgruuf. I was going with Irileth and four guards to try to take down the beast. we made haste out of the city towards our destination. When we arrived we found the tower was destroyed, in flames and had no survivors. The dragon appeared with a terrifying screech, setup for another intense battle. Me and two other archer guards fired arrows after it where alot of them missed, and when it landed, the ground shook. Yet another tactical fight from all of us where the swordsmen handled the close combat and i held my distance using my bow. The dragon was defeated. Mere mortals can kill the things! As i approached it, something strange seemed to be happening to me.. i felt... great!

One of the surviving guards approached me and said i could be "Dragonborn". Thats something out of old Nord legends i thought to myself. he told me a bit about the old legends and asked me to use my Thu'um. Very well i thought, i could try. And when i shouted it knocked the guard backwards a step and he seemed to lose his balance a bit. After a bit if discussing the dragonborn buisness they told me to go to High Hrothgar to speak to the Greybeards, masters of the way of the voice.

First i thought i needed some rest again so i headed back towards The Bannered Mare. Well outside of Whiterun i heard a mighty voice coming from High Hrothgar! Another few steps ahead a courier stopped me and he had a letter for me wich read.

"Eirikur Magnusson

You caused a bit of a stir in Western Watchtower when you demonstrated your Thu'um. Not everyone is anxious for the return of the Dragonborn.
I for one desire to see you grow and develop your talents. Skyrim needs a true hero these days. You should turn your attention to Volskygge. I understand it holds a mysterious source of power that can only be unlocked by the Dragonborn.

Sincerely,

A Friend"

Thought to myself, thats my destination after a well needed night of sleep. Arrived at The Bannered Mare where i had some food and some rest.

Day 7 Sundas:

Got up early today, Stopped by Arcadias Cauldron to mix and sell some potions and heading up to Dragonsreach where the Jarl was glad i helped and named me Thane of Whiterun. I got a shiny new axe that would work as my badge of office, also got a housecarl to protect me and all i own with her life. Her name Was Lydia. I asked her to follow me before setting of to my destination of Volskygge.
Its going to be a long walk so i better prepare. Near a Fort west of Whiterun i spotted this group of Imperial soldiers escorting a Stormcloak prisoner. I decided to follow them, we encountered a few bandit groups but other than that the trip went relatively pain free.
Funny thing is, the stormcloak had several opportunities to escape, but he did not. He just went back in line, The guy must have a deathwish.

We were closing in on Rorikstead where just south of it near a bridge the whole group just dissapeared into thin air. Could have been my lack of attention to them at that point that let them get away whilst i was picking ingredients.

I thought no more of it and crossed the bridge. Stumbled upon a big Bandit camp that said that i had to pay the toll.. We would have none of it so we refused and a battle ensued. Me and Lydia prevailed at last fighting our way thru some bandits. We thought we had the camp cleared so we borrowed a coulpe of their tents by the fire to rest up and grab what food there was.

Day 8 Morndas:

After an, as good nights sleep as sleeping on hay in an open tent on a rainy night can be we continued looking further up the camp wich we noticed we did not see yesterday since we were too tired. There was a small cabin on top of the hill wich we just had to investigate. Inside was the leader of that bandit group we made quick work of her, found some useless garbage on her corpse, all but one thing that caught my attention, a key to the basemant of the house. We had to investigate closer so we ventured down to wich turned out to be a small cave under the house. Perfect for my poisons since alot of different fungi grew down there. What caught our eye most tho was this journal that the bandit leader had written, mostly only gibberish but it had one interesting point to it, directions to a hidden treasure chest. Said she took the boat out and went south down the stream, and put some valuables in a chest on a small island near a tree. We found it, but as we got the chest open the dissapointment was big. We swam ashore and continued north towards Solitude which had to be a stop along the way. Some distance up the road we came acros this forest path leading to another small cabin, aproached it and inside we found a dog and his dead master. The journal we found laying on the table at the foot end of the bed described it as he had rockjoint and has become gradually weaker and that it would be the death of him. Guess he was right..
We couldnt let the dog just sit there next to its dead master so we brought him with us, His name was Meeko.

When we later reached Solitude at last, a guard outside the gates told us that we were just in time to come see Rogvir. We wondered about who that could be and entered. Just inside of the main gate was, just as the guard told us an execution under way. The people of Solitude seemed to not like this guy very much and cheered as his head dropped to the ground. The darkness was starting to fall and we spent the rest of the day getting to know the locals and upgrading some gear and potions.
After that it was time to locate the nearest inn for some rest to get up early for Volskygge.

Day 9 Tirdas: We started today by checking out the alchemist again to get well prepared for what was sure to be a tough trial in Volskygge. Started our journeys towards our destination and after a short walk in the forest we had arrived. Volskygge.. a terrible place filled of bandits, the toughest of Draugurs and all sorts of nasty things. We started out quite confident ant took down the enemies one by one with ease. Further in tho it was a completely different story, First in our party to fall was Meeko the fighting dog. Too bad it had to end like this.. but now he would be reunited with his master right?

We pushed on thru the corridors and traps. A puzzle consisting of a Snake, A fox, A wolf and a bear laid in front of us. after some reading we solved that puzzle and pressed on. in the very next room we found another one of our many near death experiences. When the battle was finally over, Lydia my housecarl was lying there all motionless.. I was now alone in a dungeon filled with undead that we could barely handle the three of us. And i started thinking about turning back so i could live to see another day. But i did not, the explorer in me took over and i pressed on. Next i ended up in some caves where there obviously lived spiders, and big ones at that. They were the easiest part of this particular dungeon tho dispatching all of them with one arrow each.

Well out of the spider part i came across this big hall with two bridges leading over some water. past them on my left was a big staircase with a throne on top. I guess i had woken up something that did not want their sleep interrupted.. This [censored] was by far the most powerful of all the draugrs so far, and that's not saying a little. He came down the stairs and attacked me like there was only one thing on its mind. KILL!

I managed to fool him, ran up the stairs and hid. Guess he did not know where i went so i felt kind of safe under the circumstances. I can hear him coming up the stairs towards me.. Please dont let him see me... as i was getting ready to sneak attack him he detected me! he took a powerful swing of his sword..........
