unwanted vampirism

Please help... This is the 1st RPG I've ever played. I'm a Nord, happily moving through Skyrim, completing quests, level 16, just successfully finished Alduin's Bane, went to the next village...BOOM...everybody attacks me, hates me, the principle characters won't talk to me because of my vampiric qualities. I don't even know how I became one (possibly Snapleg Cave), but it's a real bummer. How can I rid myself of this curse. The individual with the right fix goes to the head of my Christmas list...Thanks

First of all, find a sleeping NPC and feed, second, Head to Morthal and ask the innkeeper about rumors, then follow on from there

Load a save from before you were infected by a Vampire?

When you first get the infection, you have 72 game hours to cure it with a Cure Disease Potion/Spell/Blessing. If you don't, then you have to do the Vampire Cure quest to resolve this if you don't want to be a Vampire.

Since it takes 72 hours, perhaps you have a save from before the disease took but after got infected then you can cure that.

Now, I keep mentioning different saves. This is the best advice you will get about this game:

1. Turn off the Autosave Features, all of them.
2. Use Manual Save Slots
3. Have at least 10 slots that you cycle through as you play the game. This way you can go back a few game hours if you need to to fix a glitch or undo something like vampirism.
4. I never overwrite a save slot more than 10 to 15 times, after that, I create a new slot. I can always delete excess saves later if I need to.

Just wanted to chime in here. You're level 16 and already have done Alduin's Bane? It sounds like you're storming through the main quest. I'm level 46 and am just doing A Cornered Rat. I recommend taking your time with the main quest and not rushing through it, You'll have finished the main quest first and still have everything else to do. Trust me, after you finish is and you're only about level 30 or so, you'll be disappointed you ran through it, There are loads and loads of side quests and miscellaneous tasks to do. Work through the Companions and College questlines. You'll earn alot of new things to help you battle your way through Skyrim.

Some excellent person here helped me when I had the same horrible issue!
I dont know what level you are? if you can, consume some cure disease potions ASAP! Go to a shrine and worship and hope that that will cure your vampirism.

If that doesent help then it sadly means you're too high level which means you have to 'feed' on some sleeping hoomin and then do some tedious task with some guy in a marshy horrible city I cant remember the name of.

In the future, you can prevent becoming infected by these horrible dirty bastards by keeping a stock of cure disease potions, and then by joining the companions and becoming a werewolf which ensures one hundred percent immunity from vampirism,

There are only 2 ways of curing Vampirism, only read the top one if you don't want spoilers from the Companions quests:
  • Spoiler
Visit Falion in Morthal who will give you the side quest 'Rising at Dawn'. This quest is repeatable.
  • Spoiler
Contract Lycanthropy during the Companions quest 'The Silver Hand'. You can't be a vampire and a werewolf at the same time.
