Hey, I am kinda new to this forum and it looks pretty cool so far. But anyways, I have been having some problems with skyrim. On the quest,"Dampened Spirits," with the thieves guild, i am unable to obtain the quest. I talked to Brynjolf and finished the dialogue after i finished the quest,"Loud and Clear." He sent me to a women ( Maven I think) but the quest title never showed up. Now whenever i try to get that quest again, Brynjolf says he is busy, and Maven doesnt say anything related either. Please help! I really want to fiinish this quest line but this bug keeps me from achieving that. Thanks.

Do you have the PC version?

two options really if you are on the PC version you can you the console command to start the quest, if you are on the xbox/PS3 reload the previous save and try again to see if the quest doesnt glitch.

Same problem but I did talk to Brynjolf all the way through on all options and still no quest update. I have also read that if you turn in anything after talking to Brynjolf it will but the quest. I have already gone backwards once and don't really feel like doing it again. Is there possibly a fix coming for this?

This kind of thing happens when you skip conversations that are required for quest triggers.

I found this on gamefaqs.com: "If the player breaks into Honningbrew Meadery before being given the quest, the quest is never offered to the player after the completion of Loud and Clear." So this is probably the cause. I have this problem too so i'm putting thieves guild questline aside and going to do something else before Bethesda will fix this. So I hope they will. There is one more solution to this problem, you can skip the quest Dampened Spirits with the console command (on PC). Unfortunately you cannot use the console to start the Dampened Spirits quests, but you can skip to the next quest by typing "setstage TG04 1", but this isn't the way i'm willing to go...
