In fallout 3 you could hold up an drum, an body or even an large piece of paper and use as shields against sniper rifles, lasers and gatling guns.

So if you hold the basket in front of you it would shield part of your body against arrows.

basket > Dragonbone/daedric armor. Even with daedric/dragon, people still die when shot in the head. BUT THIS..!!!!
