Attacking The Dark Brotherhood

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:38 pm

Since he began his adventuring in Skyrim, my Battlemage has been attacked several times by the Dark Brotherhood. Now that Rajir has saved the realm from Alduin, one of the things he'd like to do is go after the Brotherhood. Can this be done without joining the group?

Yes. You'd start it the same way you'd go to join the guild, but instead of following orders, kill the order giver. Boom. "Eliminate the Brotherhood."

Yes, once you have done the 'innocence lost' quest, you can decide to turn on the brotherhood.

Though to find them you'll have to kill someone who may or may not deserve to be murdered.

That's something he doesn't want to do, kill an innocent. My assassin did the DB quests a few weeks ago, but I can't remember if there was an option to just lie to the kid in Windhelm about killing the woman at the Riften orphanage. I was hoping for another way to get back at the DB, and send a message to whoever hired them.

She's an evil human being who tortures children. Torturing children should be cause enough for even the most goody two-shoes of characters to gut her like a fish.

She's a really mean old lady, but I didn't see anything about torture...

My character killed her accidentally. Was just supposed to be a slap for how badly she treated this children, but she died from 1 punch. After this i reevaluated the use of violence against civilians. My character learned something and later got the chance to kill the DB. Hooray!

She beats them and refuses to allow their adoption. There is a closet in the orphanage with shackles on the walls. One could presume that these shackles are meant for the children's beatings.

Yup, I had no qualms of killing Grelod! LOL I also then proceeded to wipe out the DB on my 2nd toon. Now, I have guards tell me "I could have cleaned out the Sanctuary. I was just sick that day..." *rolls eyes* LOL I want to smack the guards!

However, if you have never played through the DB quest line, I highly recommend it. I had a few *eyes wide open, mouth dropping* moments... "SAY WHAT? What do you want me to do?" LOL It was highly enjoyable on my NORD character hahahaha

Well, it looks like Rajir could help out some poor children and go after the DB. Thanks for the help, guys.

Just a though. Is it possible to make The Sanctuary a Player owned place and rebuild it to be more like the Assassins on Assassins Creed (in terms of philosophy)?

In fairness, even my Paladin killed that old hag. :P

I don't get the objection to killing Grelod. The kid's willing to pay, isn't that reason enough?

Nope, sorry.

The game does make Grelod out to be as hate-worthy as possible without actually making her a murderer, but if that's still not enough for you, you can always rationalize it by telling yourself that it's a necessary sacrifice to get the Brotherhood's attention, drawing them out so you can achieve a greater good…
