Where can I learn more words to a shout

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:38 pm

Just wondering where I need to go to learn more words to a shout. I have two words for fire breath, 3 words to unrelenting force and want some words to my frost breath.

No spoilers, just simple answers like caves etc.

It varies, really. They're just about everywhere, except forts I believe.

I'm pretty sure you can ask the Greybeards for help on where walls are. Get to a point in the main quest and ask them.

Best way is to use your voice in crowds.....when audience is around.

Spoiler
When you use your voice inside a city for example (make sure you don't harm anyone, unless it's some enemy attacking the place), people will notice, and rumours will spread.
After a (game-) day or so, you may run into a messenger somewhere, who hands over a "letter from a friend"...read it, it tells about your previous shout-demo, and it reveals the location of a "source of power"....a word-wall, as a new misc quest.

Thanks Paajtor!

Didn't try that before, mainly because I was worried about killing a chicken or something.

You can find walls marked on your map as little dragon heads (assuming you show all that stuff on your compass. I don't. P:

If you're worried about that, use the Kyne's Peace shout :woot:

Shout around people and "A friend" will send you letters. (Various non-attack shouts work for this, such as Become Ethereal, Whirlwind Sprint, Slow Time, and Aura Whisper)
After retrieving the Horn, Arngeir will give you sidequests to find words.

All the dragon nests have them.
Most of the crypts (the dragon claw icons on the map) have them.

Please do not post Spoilers in General.

People come to General to learn about the game without learning about what happens in the game. If they want to know about what happens, that is what the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers section is for.

Do not use quest details or location specific details related to quests/puzzles/NPCs in your posts in this section. General is for discussing gameplay and mechanics and general topics about the the game including but not limited to races, items and their use, magic, enchanting, skills, character builds, criticism, praise, funny random things that happen, places from an esthetic standpoint and and other general topics.

Use the Spoilers Section if you have to post quest details or other spoilers or a thread about the same. I will move this now.

Go on quests....and keep your headphones on and the volume up. More than once I heard the chanting before I saw the word wall!

There are 10 ancient walls marked with a dragon icon on the map

The rest of the walls are inside or near dungeons.

A few walls (3 or 4) can be accessed only via joining a certain guild because they're contained within dungeons not open to anyone. During my last play through, using a few console tricks to open doors I wasn't supposed to open, I successfully learned all 60 words of power. Most of them are worthless, though, or work only on enemies up to a certain level
