I have been reading up on bugs concerning the purchase of the house in Windhelm and Civil War Quests.

In the Main Quest line, I just started Season Unending. I have not yet spoken to Arngeir.

In Windhelm, I have completed the Blood on Ice quest.

I understand that it is necessary to join the Stormcloaks in order to buy the Windhelm house.

However, I gather from different sources that joining the Stormcloaks before going through with the peace treaty could lead to some gamebreaking bugs.

If this tpeace treaty effectively ends the war, will I still be able to purchase the house in Windhelm afterwards?

If so, could I just as well buy the house after completing the Main Quest?

Im also wondering if you can buy this house after completing the civil war quest, but you joined the empire and killed Ulfric. Do they put a new Jarl in charge, and can i do missions for him to get a house? Just wondering before i join either side.

You do not need to join stormcloaks to get the house in windhelm you just need to help the empire take control and put down ulfric manchild and for the peace treaty does not stop the war it just is at a halt till you deal with that big black dragon we all know and love.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to join the Stomcloaks to buy the house, I think it works if you complete the Legion questline.

I got the house by doing the Imperial Line.

I would prefer not to join either side but if I have to pick, it would probably be the stormcloaks, even with what I know from the Thalmor embassy documents

But basically, I can still join either side after finishing the main quest?
