Getting skills past 100?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:08 pm

Hi folks,

I've got a high level character. In my skill constellation ("/" key), I notice that I only have 2 skills that are over 100 (green), whereas others won't go over green.
  • My Heavy Armor is level 96. Plus a +25 enchanted object, and it shows as a green 121. Ok, makes sense...
  • Speechcraft is 93, plus 25 enchanment, is a green 118. Ok...
  • But lockpick is 100. Putting on 80 worth of enchantment, it's still at 100.
How does this work?

Thanks if you can help

I'd guess in some cases a skill over 100 can effect certain values (more damage, more protection) but in other cases it wouldn't accomplish anything.

Some enchantments affect the skill, like Heavy Armor, where each 1 point translates to a .4% increase to your armor rating. Other enchantments operate directly on the effect, like lockpicking (imagine it boosing the armor rating instead).

Ah, thanks stilts. Is there somewhere to see the current total lockpicking skill? Past the "skill constellation". Of course, there's "Active Effects", but I wish I could see a total, for confirmation sake.

Thanks! - RK7

The different is, fortify light or heavy armor adds directly to your skill and indirectly to your defense rating which is calculated from your skill.

Fortify lockpick or pickpocket adds directly to the ease of picking a lock or pickpocket chance instead of to the skill first.
