That elder woman in a shack...

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:46 pm

Dudes, I can't remember her name right now. It's a elder you find when still lvl 1. It's a poor old woman that's hiding some rituals underground her shack. When you discover it by reading her letter she become hostile saying "Nobody shall know my secret!" and attacks you.

But that's not the point. It is...

Have anyone noticed she and her shack spawns randomly?! I just found her near bleak falls barrows with my Night Elf. My other characters found her near a river or near riverwood.

Is that.... ok?

Yes, actually it's near riverwood. But Bleak Falls is far from rivers.

I mean, her shack is on the snow now.

I think I can explain, when you go through Bleak Falls, you enter through the "front" door (lack of better term), which is not near a river, nor near Anise's cabin, true.

When you resurface from the "back" door of Bleak Falls, you are quite a distance from the front door, and relatively close to Anise's cabin, I assume you found it once by travelling along the river, and once coming out the back door of Bleaks, thus giving you the thought that it was in 2 different places, when in fact you just stumbled upon the same location from differing journeys.

I doubt any locations randomly spawn, as it's a hand crafted world.

Zero locations randomly spawn. All locations of Houses, out-houses, cities, towns, villages, hamlets, shacks, condos, etc. are all fixed in place. Anise's Shack is where it has always been, near the river, just a short trip from Bleak Falls Barrow's back door/cave exit.

That's weird. I could swear I saw the shack on a different place. I'll send the screenshots at home. This way you guys can really judge.

Why can't you? There is a dresser there which is empty and is a safe place to store your belongings because it doesn't respawn. Just don't put any items in any of the containers with contents and you are fine. I also think there is an alchemy pouch downstairs you can put all your stuff in.

I killed her, dragged her body into the river, and lived there until level seven or so when I moved on to Whiterun.

I always do. You can rest in the bed, but I don't trust the containers so I just dump stuff on the floor.

Protip- the hunter's camp across the river from the cabin has small lootz and the chest respawns. You can steal her stuff or murder the hunter and she won't respawn as far as I've seen, but the loot will. For a low level character, the combination makes a good setup.

I just hate the fact that everything in her house is marked as STEAL even after you kill her.

I'm always afraid to steal anything due to that bug and then marks everything similar in your inventory as stolen for the rest of the game. Had one game where I stole an Iron ingot from Riverwood. The rest of the game I could never sell an Iron Ingot as they were all marked as stolen. :(

I only steal her alchemy supplies anyway. They respawn, IIRC- at least the ones upstairs on the table. The skill book I leave there until I need to deliver it to Lami in Morthal.

Isn't her bed owned though? If you kill her does the bed become un-owned?

Not a quest, just a small story told via a note sitting on a table.

Not really, though there is a "can you find a copy of ..." book fetch quests for the book she happens to have in her hut.
