No more "Letters from a Friend"?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 10:49 pm

I'm at level 40, and the last letter I received was to find the source of power at Hag's End. Well, the word wall there is broken. So the quest is still sitting unfinished in my log. Is that why I am no longer getting the letters from the couriers? I continue to shout in all the towns, but have not gotten a letter in a very long time. Same thing with my husband's game. Ever since the Hag's End letter, he has not gotten any more. Is it because of that, or does it get to a point where you just don't get them any more?

Thanks in advance!

Since you'll only ever have one letter from a friend quest at a time, you won't get another until that first quest is cleared. :\

I think the same thing applies to the Graybeards.

Is the word wall broken or is it a shout you already know? I skipped the Greybeards part in one game and then found a wall with the force shout on it. I had to wonder if the Greybeards had already given me those shouts (as they do at the end of Act I) if I would have gotten anything from that wall.

Has anyone figured out who the Friend is?

The wall is definitely broken. You can hear the chanting when you get close and see the arrow, but the word is not there. Not lit up. The appropriate sounds are coming from it, but even if you stand there, you don't get the word. i am on PS3 and my hubby is on XBOX and it is broken for both of us.

Ah, well, I should have researched it first. This is what Wiki says:

After getting the first word of the Slow Time shout from elsewhere, the word wall may not work properly. The wall's sound effects can be heard but no word is learned when the wall is approached.

Thanks for all your suggestions anyway. Guess I won't be getting more letters.
