Banned from completing Totems of Hircine : V

Aela gave me an assignment where me and her were to attain the first totem of hircine, which was the werewolf totem in Clearspring Tarn. I ran there but obviously Aela couldn't keep up, so I went on leaving her behind to catch up thinking she would act like every other follower and teleport to me when I loaded the next area. She did not. I slayed the troll in the cave and grabbed the totem, she still wasn't there. I went outside and searched the nearby area for about 20 minutes and didn't see her.

So I went back to the Companion Hall...she's not there either. She's not in the under forge either. The other companions can't follow me because they said I already have a follower, which is Aela. So Aela is gone, I can't use the werewolf totem, and I can't ever use another follower. I could go back to a save point which was TWO HOURS before getting the assignment from Aela, but I'm not about to go back and grind through everything I did in that time span again.

So am I essentially forbidden from doing the quest, seeing Aela, or using a follower again? All because I didn't want to walk baby steps with an NPC to my goal and make sure they were always close?

Just relaod the prievious save losing two hours of play time to fix a problem like this really isnt that big of a deal IMO, but yes if you decide not to reload you save you will not be able to finish anymore of the quests, see Aela again or ever use another follower.

Have you used Wait for 24+ hours? If she's stuck running back then it might just be that she needs time to catch up with you!

are you on pc? you could use the commands to move her to you.

She should be somewhere in the dungeon where you got the totem. When you pick it up, she's scripted to speak with you about it, but if you're too far away, she just lingers there until you go back and find her.

I'm not on PC, and I did wait 24 hours after initially failing to find her anywhere near the cave or the road we traveled on. But yeah I guess I'll have to re-do the 2 hours.....ugh, mega pain since I had to kill a dragon priest and go through a large dungeon. Next time I'll make sure to just walk to the totem chest -_-
