I realise this question may have been raised and perhaps a bit dim.
I am trying to progress within the companion but think there may be a glitch in game because I can't find this chick Aela to give a shield back. I also bought a clairvyance spell and tried to loafd an earlier save and still can't find this chick.
Any help would be great thanks!

Have you turned on quest markers? Aela can be anywhere around Jorrvaskr, in the yard, in the quarters downstairs (be sure to check all rooms) or in the central room. She also can be found at the farms around Whiterun, fighting a giant with her fellow Companions.

Yeah I have tried that and the place you mention Jorrvaskr I have searched for her high and low and no sign of her.
