Zero Kills to Level 5, Bleak Falls

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:50 am

And no, I didn't just sit under the Gildergreen.

It was a very interesting challenge to see if I could complete the Tutorial through the Bleak Falls Barrow quests with 0 kills. I went into the tomb at Level 2 and came out at Level 5. The skills that leveled most were, Sneak, Lt Armor, Restoration, Illusion. If there had been a stat for Athletics, that would have gone way up because I did a lot of running. I can't call it a pacifist run because there was killing, it just wasn't me doing it with my hands - but I still had a hand in it. It took a while to lead the enemy to where they could be killed by something or someone else but it's do-able and a great challenge and that's what I wanted to check out after being inspired by the Felix The Peaceful Monk video on YouTube, the pacifist Skyrim run. (name corrected)

Here's a couple of screenshots to show the journal. It was a lot of fun, not sure how far I'll take it. She's an Illusion mage, and that was something I really wanted to explore because I usually neglect Illusion, favoring Destruction. I've learned the power of Illusion finally and will be using it more and building it up so it isn't a weak skill that frustrates me. All in all, it was a great learning experience about this great game and where you can take it. Thanks to Felix.

I almost forgot...draugr lose interest in finding you kind of quickly if you run too far ahead of them. I'd have to go back and taunt them by telling them they dress funny and then they'd chase me again.

Arsenal used: Calm, Fear, Fury, Turn Lesser Undead, Heal and the dagger was to cut through a spider web.

Anyone else tried this or something like it or something different and unusual? I'd like to hear what you did. :tes:

Even though we're in the spoiler forum....
Spoiler
Lead him back to the swinging blades.

No Illusion on that one. I had to do it a few times but finally succeeded. Then get the Dragonstone from his body. :tes:

A guy made a post last week, I think, his character is a pacifist monk. He intends to kill noone the entire game.

That's it, Felix the Peaceful Monk! Yes, that's what inspired the attempt, great idea.

I should have learned the meat-grinder technique a long time ago but I didn't. It sure does work for any build...you have to be quick too though!

I started like a week before you and my healer is only level 11!
Anyways, just want to share my progress. I've already became Thane of Riften, Morthal, Winterhold, and now just joined Winterhold College and doing Hitting The Books (my first time )
No problems so far, one time I was sent to Yngol Barrow and I was like "noooo, how can I survive alone!", but I just ranthrough the boss and completed it. 0 kills so far by my hand; all the kills went to Golldir, Meeko, & my steed (under Courage Spell). Before Winterhold College, I was actually gonna start Stormcloak Questline, but then I got rail roaded into doing Dragon Rising in Whiterun, so I reloaded and just ignore that for now, don't want dragons ruining NPC lives at this point.

Unfortunately, you're not the first to do this. There's a guy level 40 or so, who still hasn't had a direct kill.

I was hoping you'd do an update. :) I'm glad yours is going so well and I remember Yngol Barrow. The first time I went in, I was able to take Lydia in with me but the second time, the game bugged graphically if I had a companion so I had to go in alone. It wasn't a problem though because it had already been cleared. That's the one with the flying light orbs, right? I don't have any companions this time because I heard sometimes their kills go on your stats? Any problem with that? Maybe it's conjured entities that do that? I'm really going solo so far in the zero kills game. I have my first game on hold and it's ready to be taken into the civil war questline but with so many hours on it and a large filesize, it started bugging so I'm not sure what to do. I might just start a new save and go for it. Maybe I could get through it. Good luck with your game too! :tes:

Made it through Saarthal tonight. My Illusion magic was not strong enough for the draugr before the final area. Died many times, finally fooled it and snuck by. whew. Tolfdir caught back up to me at the end and I thought he'd take down Jyrik Gauldurson but no...it was my job. It took some patience using Turn Lesser Undead and a trap.
