Where can I find a lot of soul gems?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 12:46 pm

I'm in the process of boosting my Enchanting skill and while I do have the Black Star I was wondering where I could find a lot of soul gems in a single place so I can continue to boost my skill. Anyone know of any places where I can find some?

Really? You can mine souls gems? Is there a vein to mine them from or something similar?

Yes, they are called Geode Veins and they can only be found in Blackreach. You get a quest to access this vast underground area from Septimus Signus (find his outpost in the frozen sea, north of Winterhold) You have to be lvl 15 to start the quest. (look it up in the wiki)

Btw. Blackreach is the coolest place in the game, at least in my opinion :)

The mages college has display cases with gems in them. You can grab all of them and they will reset after a while.
They also sell gems, some of them already filled too.

The invisible chest in Dawnstar has loads of charged and uncharged soul gems. From reading tips on here and implementing them in the game, the chest respawns items for every 10 days spent outside the city. Loot soul gems, fast travel to new city, use wait command for 10 days, fast travel to Dawnstar, loot soul gems, rinse, repeat.

The easiest place to find Soul Gems? Traders. I was surprise at how many Merchants in this game sold these things. I can go around Windhelm or Riverrun and buy 30 or 40 of these things of various sizes, some filled, some not. Of course, you have to have lots of money.

If the khajit caravan is there you can just talk to the female khajiit merchant and ask her what she has for sale every 48 hours as the chest isf her inventory. If she's not there just wait 24 hours at a time before she is, then you can loot the chest every 48 hours while staying in dawnstar the entire time.

That is my preferred method of finding soul gems if i want to boost enchanting fast. Or if you have a lot of money you can buy lesser and petty soul gems from the trainers in the college of winterhold.

Yea, LOL that can get pretty expensive if you need LOTS of them!

Oh yea, I just found out about that "invisible chest" the other day! Oh why, oh why do you temped me people? I cleaned it out twice so far. LOL

You can talk to any Khajiit trader to reset the chest! I came across the caravan in Whiterun, talked to the merchant and then traveled to the chest in Dawnstar. It had different inventory than the Whiterun merchant, but it was full again. LOL And yes, it had been at least 48 hrs between looting.

Wow. I did not know this. Thanks for the tip! 48 hours is a lot easier to wade through than 240 hours. :)
