Effeminate animations...

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:35 pm

Uhh... So i kinda just noticed how feminine my male character runs with a spell in both hands in third person view... Its... A little upsetting... And embarrasing. Lol. (mainly role-play reasons... I mean, here i am, a powerful warrior dovakiin, about to fry up some bandit scum when i run into the fray with my arms flailing about like some frilly fairy pants... I can feel the bandits laughing...) Anyone else feel the same way?

Nope. You want to grouse about animations, go play Daggerfall and Morrowind for a while. Besides, of course, I never play male toons.

How should he look then? I don't have a man that can cast magic in real life to compare to....and for manliness I don't think David Copperfield counts.

Hm I never noticed that.

This will fix the sprinting at least:

I only notice the limp hands if I'm running with a bow.

And yeah, previous TES games are atrocious.

How are women butchesque?

Not all, Im talking about the 'warrior' women e.g. uthgaard, and the housecarl at dragonsreach. Not such good posture, they run like they have a nappy on. Although some of the more 'feminine' womens posture is just as bad e.g ysolda, looks like they sat on something pointed and unpleasant.

Oh, right. I nixed an orc warrior I had made because she was bow-armed. It might be those who are heavier on the weight slider, for clipping purposes or something.

Nord women are pretty big. And yeah, some look unfeminine, like Uthgard.

Funnily Altmer are bigger, but they come off as cute to me. Even the Thalmor. Heh

edit: I don't know if it's me, but Nord women even seem taller than male Nords. It's like they had a different artist or something (a better one at that. Their faces are cool).

I challenge you to hold your hands out to your sides like your char is doing, and run in a non-feminine way, go on try it.

......

didn't work did it? Only method that doesn't make you look like a woman makes you look like a complete lunatic, it's really a no win situation, I'd advise either putting away your spells while sprinting, or play in first person (or as a third option, download a mod like the one mentioned by Lendial).

I'm beginning to think that Bethesda hit a high point with animations when they made Oblivion. Fallout3's animations were a step backwards in my opinion. And the "elbows out" and "elbows in" walking animations in Skyrim look equally ridiculous for both male and female characters.

HAH!
You're right. Anyone running with both hands held out is going to look a little weird.

Just be thankfull you lot that the makers didnt make this game totally realistic and have your charecter flailing on slippery rocks and panicking like a girl about falling into a stream and getting YOUR NEW PARTY SHOES WET.
