Hi guys just recently started my unarmed redgaurd assassin character i will be roleplaying a lot with this guy and i was wondering if there are any tips or tricks you could tell me about being unarmed since there is no skill tree. Is there any weapons or armor that could help?

Thanks

There is one perk in the heavy armor tree, you will need it: Fists of Steel. Use the heaviest gauntlets you can (daedric = best). The fact that you are playing a redguard is going to gimp you very hard, but it is doable with using enchanting. If you want a little help finding some gloves that will help you, click the spoiler below:
Spoiler

Go to Riften. In the sewers under the city, you will encounter a guy that has gloves with a Fortify Unarmed enchantment. Dis-enchant the gloves at any Enchanter Table, and put the enchantment on your gauntlets and a ring. When you level enchanting and put perks into it, re-make new gauntlets and re-enchant another ring to take advantage of your higher enchanting skill.

This mod: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4822

or this one: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3517

The first one makes unarmed like 1-handed. The 2nd gives you 1 dmg per level, which balances well with the strategy Lothario pointed out. If you do it without mods, make sure to get your smithing and enchanting up, or you'll hit some nasty difficulty spikes.
