Red Eagle's Fury

I have 2 of these swords in my inventory that I can't drop or store because it's a quest item. Can anyone tell me where to get the quest so I can shed the 24 lbs?

... the quest starts on reading the Legend of Red Eagle... is a quick little jump. Don't you have something to explore down the hill from where you looted it from the foresworn? If it doesn't build it's own quest line from looting the sword, I'd say go find the book. The steward in Markarth has one in his room, there's a copy in the mage's college library and those are the only two I know for sure I've seen.

I've done the quest line. I just figured after picking these up that maybe there was a second part to it or something. Possible bug?

I had a similar bug, my first character, I didn't get two swords but I got the quest over again after picking up another book.

No they are not. Neverwittlesbane (yeah I know I spelt it wrong) to cut the tree, weighs 10 pounds, so no, quest items are not weightless.

well it stops being a quest item when youve finished the quest (unlike the bards college items!!).
Anyway, I left the sword in the 'lock', so this hasnt been an issue. did you take the sword back once youd opened the door?

Wait, youve been to Rebels Cairn to fight the Red Eagle boss, right?

I haven't done Red Eagles bane quest yet, but when doing the one with the Neverwilltesbane, it always weighed something. I will have to double check now and see if it weighs anything or not. I was sure that it always weighed 10 pounds/units now I am not so sure now. Argh.

Try saving your game, then dropping everything you can, then see what your weight is. Even with the quest items you should show zero. I've done it.

Me too. Just dump everything into a barrel and check your weight. Items flagged as quest items will state a weight, but not actually weigh anything. Just to confuse people i guess.

Red Eagle's Redoubt/tomb/ascent. You'll find the book and also be where you need to be to get the mission done. Location is between Markarth and Solitude in the hills. Lot's of Redoubt towers and castles about and the Forsworn are everywhere.
