Fast Travel: Horse v On Foot

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:00 am

I've had a horse since I could afford one so IDK for sure: when you fast travel when you own a horse do you Fast Travel faster than if you don't own a horse?

What I do know: if you Fast Travel when you own a horse it takes the same amount of time if you initiate it while standing next to the horse as if you initiate it while sitting on the horse.

I don't understand what you're asking.

You can be over encumbered on Horseback and still be able to Fast Travel. That's about it really.

If you don't own a horse then traveling on foot is the only way to move. So does Fast Traveling without a horse make the same amount of ingame time pass as if you don't own a horse?

...I think Ji Soo answered it though.

I just figured that out today. Pretty aweseom when your trying to move your house and your not married or you took a ton of loot from a dungeon.

Either way, I don't use a horse, no benefit, I would rather run.

Yeah, I usu don't feel like fighting every wolf, bear, and sabre cat that wants to attack me so I flee sometimes.

I love the horse. I just got shadowmere today and she's the ultimate steed. She has a lot of stamina, more than me and can run faster. She can climb up mountains and rock formations I can't navigate (that's a general perk to all horses), and she has a ton of health so she can absorb a lot of blows and act as a distraction, and she'll even fight for me while I have another follower. Best of all, she's always there when I fast travel to another town on foot, and she didn't cost a septim.

Whether you just want to haul ass to an undiscovered location, cross country or fast travel while being weighed down, or in the case of Shadowmere, you want a good standby distraction or great escape route from the guards after doing an assassination, horses are great. I do wish we could fight on horse back, or at least be able to use our bows.

A Cavalry Perk?

I thought Shadowmere was flagged as 'essential' and couldn't be killed.

She can be killed ... just not permanently ... she'll resurrect or reappear at the Dark Brotherhood pool ... eventually

Ah...sweet. I'll have Shadowmere when I do my Assassin-type character.
