These games (Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas) were obviously designed to use the quest arrow as NPCs don't give you location information half the time... "talk to Melissa" and it ends up Melissa is half the map away in a small camp, rather than in that town or any town, for example. For that reason turning off quest arrows in New Vegas is just tedious. That said, I dislike playing "follow the arrow" which is what it feels like when the arrow is on the compass.
In Oblivion the UI mods allowed for customization on this, where you could have no quest arrow on the compass but keep the quest arrow on the game map in the menu. That was the perfect middle-ground for me. Does something like this exist for Fallout New Vegas?
