Poor Dawnstar

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:12 pm

I opened up the DB sactuary there and have since noted that everytime (not sometimes), but everytime I travel there they are being attacked by a dragon. I kill the beast each time, thinking that would end it, but they just keep coming. I really feel sorry for these guys.

Has anyone else seen repeat dragon attacks that just seem to never end?

Yup, Dawnstar is a given. Every time I fast travel there, I hold my breath and listen for the flapping of huge wings. hahahahaha Winterhold is also a dragon magnet.

Yes, they can be a pain when all you want to do is something else.

Plus after about the 50th dragon killed, it starts getting old and repetetive.

I had this problem for a little while in Solitude. Everytime I went there a dragon would attack and land in the courtyard where the Imperial soldiers train. They the Captain of the legeon kept dying and giving me a fail on the "Bring one copy of The Mirror to Captain whatever his name was".
So of course I would have to reload and try to kill the dragon without anyone important dying. lol

It stopped happening though. I heard that dragon attacks will happen more often in a city if you enter the city from a different way than you normally would. Sure enough......I had been using the secret tunnel from the tower that leads down to the shipyard outside of Solitude. When I stopped using that entrace, the dragons stopped attacking Solitude.
Not sure what to do about the Dawnstar attacks. There isn't a barrier around that city. I don't get them there very often though anyway.

The College of Winterhold is a pretty awesome place to fight a dragon as the archmage.

If you go to the top of the archmage tower, it's like an epic mage's duel versus a dragon.

Riverwood is kind of a pain for dragons too.

I like selling stuff to Alvor, but I had to keep reloading whenever he would go kamikaze melee with his iron warhammer wearing blacksmith clothing against ancient dragons by himself...

Yeah, dragons absolutely hate Dawnstar in all my playthroughs. Ironic considering how Jarl Skald goes on about how the dragons are Talos' punishment for the Empire banning him.

Everytime i have fast travelled to Falkreath, it has been attacked by an Ancient dragon. Im at level 49 and have only just started doing a few things in Falkreath.

The main road that runs through Falkreath now consists of about 8 dead guards and 6 dragon skeletons. Oh and the guy whose little girl was killed by Sidding the werewolf... he is also lying face down in the dirt.

Falkreath is a dangerous place. No wonder they have a large graveyard.

They don't seem to like Riften either. One elder dragon scorched the merchant district and grabbed that nice Dunmer merchant that sells fresh meats. I only managed to get the mark of death on the dragon and the guards took it down. I've seen them attack Windhelm, Dawnstar, and of course Winterhold, Riverwood, Ivarstaad, Rorikstaad and do flyovers of Whiterun usually landing outside the town.

On my current character Falkreath is practically under siege, and the small farm just outside Riften keeps getting blasted. Also had one attack the honey farm while doing the related TG quest, fortunately it was a Frost Dragon so couldn't torch all the hives.

On the previous character it was Winterhold that was under siege, with the occasional attack on Dawnstar.

I don't know why but I'm a level 54 and I've never saw a dragon inside Whiterun. I've run into maybe 3 of them outside the city around the meadery but that's about it. Never saw one in Riften either.

Alot at the College of Winterhold though.

Yea, even fighting the dragon in the courtyard of the colleges is pretty cool. All those mages hurling their spells at the dragon, and there's no where to go for him really hahaha
That's where I fought my very first Elder Dragon, on my very first character.

Oh I don't even fast travel to Riverwood anymore. I fast travel to a nearby mine and then ride Shadowmere into town. I lost a few good friends there during a dragon attack, now I don't want to risk it anymore on my new character. LOL

That's why I always save my game before I fast travel anywhere. Just incase a dragon shows up and an NPC other than a guard dies. I just reload and do it until I kill it without any important casualties. lol

Every settlement that isn't a major city it seems.

Although the Riften Stables is a bit of a hotspot too.

The College of Winterhold for me... and usually when I am returning from a mission. Normally, people are very distracted when I show until the beast is slain... the blighter tends to land on the top of the main tower as well, making it a long winded battle. Not that I mind... but people die... important people... :stare:
