Being a high elf

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:59 pm

So i recently started my Altmer playthrough, but so far, only Hadvar in the beginning recognize me as one...in my Orc play only guards and the folks in the strongholds recognized me...i thought there would be more interaction with the whole Thalmor thing going on but sadly nope.

So i want to ask,is it like this for all races,or do npcs treat you different according to your race if you are an argonian, khajit, etc (other than nords) ?

That's an interesting question, I don't think they would do that because being treated by your race would be considered rasict and that wouldn't make sense. But I would like to know the answer to this question.

Cheers

Barely. I've gotten a taunt as a khaijit or argonian once.

There is very little race related dialogue. My Bosmer gets some quotes about my forests in fights and other Bosmeri recognize me but beyond that nada.

I know that when you join the Stormcloaks as a High Elf you are asked "Why you, a High Elf, wants to fight for Skyrim?" and you can deliver an answer. Some of the Stormcloak-held territories guards refer to you with racist "your kind" comments. Or maybe they're refering to the fact that my High Elf is a (stereotypical) mage and Nords are distrustful of magic. I know they're racist as hell about the Dark Elves in Windhelm but strangely the drunkards don't like to pick on the High Elf with flames dancing in his raised, open palms...odd that... ;)

Try getting their robes on. It helps during certain main sub-quest, but i'm not sure if it has any affect outside of it.

I'm doing an orc playthrough at the moment and every once in a while one of the whiterun guards tells me to behave or something like that. funny because my orc isn't much of a trouble maker

Spent 60+ hours as an Altmer - never heard a single race-specific comment. I've heard from guards "Don't cause trouble, elf", but that probably applies to all elves. Currently playing as a Redguard and haven't heard a single mention of my race - though I am a vampire, which is mentioned far more often. (Especially how "pale" my dark-skinned Redguard is. Meh.)

What quest? The one you go to the embassy?

It wasn't a direct quote, despite the quotation marks, my apologies. I finished those quests a couple weeks back and I can't remember exactly. But he does acknowledge your elf-ness...

I have had some racist comments toward my wood elf. The guards would say" stay out of trouble elf " another statement they would say is "don't cross me elf " There is one guy in the Reach area about the Great War with the elves and make comments about me being an elf. The Steward for the Stormcloaks asks why would an elf want to join the Stormcloaks
