Question about Weapon Display Plaques

If we remove the weapons/shield from the default ones can we put crossed swords and a shield back on them?

You should be able to. Save before you first enter your home, then go in and try it. If it doesn't work for you, try reloading the save, I had to do this for Velindrel Hall in Markarth to get all the displays to work.

Works for me. There are hot spots on either side for the swords, and one in the middle for the shield.

you should be able to remove the weapons/shield and add your own.

I've noticed that some of them are really picky about where the prompts are to hang things back on.

hint: Hjerim is absolutely the most amazing house if you like to collect things. Every time I think I know the stats on the house I'm finding a spot I forgot about. Plaques in the enchanting room, in the bedroom and the hallway... display cases in the armory and in the bedroom... a 5 slot weapon rack. THREE DUMMIES TO HOLD ARMOR... it's just awesome.

Can we cross Greatswords or just the 1-handers?

I don't have that one yet - I was putting Windhelm off until last because of Ulfric and the Stormcloaks...just figured I'd put it off until I'm ready to start the civil war. I'm tempted to not have the Steward clean it up first, but I think it'll bug if I don't.
