Are You Kidding Me, Bethesda?

I also did not read the other posts....your game is bugged?.... :(
Yeah, it was pretty bad. I even reloaded a Save, did other stuff to reset the games mindset, and restarted it: the dragon still appeared at the stables even though I ran. So, I said F it, hid in the wheat mill, plugged in my controller to charge and left the game for like an hour for the NPCs to kill it. Problem solved.

setglobalvar dragonspawn 0
PS3.

I'm sure even the Dragonborn wouldnt especially be too happy about having to fight a dragon in their birthday suit. That could get..messy.
I was in my church clothes. Do you know how hard it is to get dragon blood out of clothing? That $***'s magical.

This would have the side effect of allowing you to leave the quest pending without having to deal with dragons for an indefinite amount of time.
Plenty of exploits that are worse than that - A Daedra's Best Friend, for example.

Dude, it svcks, but that happened to your character in a rare and specific situation. I think the game would be awful if you could be put into situations in which the unepectedly bad can't happen

There's a Word Wall on the hills to the west of the stables, which I think is where the dragon spawns. Thus, dragons will likely appear frequently near the stables at Katla's Farm. The same happened to me in Windhelm, a dragon always kept showing up around the stables nearly every time I left the city. I must've slain a dozen of them in that exact area.

Well, I know it won't stop them from spawning, but I don't see it on my map so I'll go check it out.

Dragons always come out at the wrong time. Like you are about to assassinate some guy, then dragon comes, wake the whole town, plan fail.
Or when you are 300/300 on loot, or you run out of arrows/potions, dragon.
Or! You are about to return to your quest giver and get your Daedric Sword as reward. Then, dragon comes and kill the quest guy before u talk to him.

what the......

Also, dragons NEVER spawn when u need them.
E.g. i need 1 dragon bone and 1 dragon scale to make my armor. But i gots no bones and scales!!! WHERE ARE U DRAGON
*searched all the dragon spawn points, no dragon*, rages

It's very close to Meridia's Shrine. Make SURE you get the word from the wall before you get close enough to the shrine that Lady M starts her "you will get my Beacon" dialog. Lots of folks have had issues with getting the word wall to work after talking to Lady M first. I've never had the issue, because you have to be level 15 or so I think before you can get "offered" her questline and I usually go grab that word around level 10 when I do Wolfskull Cave....

I think I've done the Shrine quest because the marker was white on my map and when I went to the Word Wall it didn't light up so I may already have it...or it's the 2nd word or 3rd word (for Elemental Fury maybe?) for which I don't have the pre-req.

It's Elemental Fury - whichever one you don't have yet of course. If you don't have any of them, and that's where you go first, then you get the first one there....

Then Kilkreath should give you the second word. If there's no word happening there, then probably you are one of the unlucky ones that Lady M glitched....

[There's no "given" order for the word locations; how could there be when no two people do the same word walls in the same order? If it's a new shout to you, it's always going to be the first word of the shout; if it's not a new shout, it will be either the second or the third word, depending how many you have already.]

Yeah, since it's an open world I figured Bethesda did something like that. :P

I had a dragon kill a bandit I had as a quest objective, yes I used more time fighting the dragon than the bandit and the dragon left before I could kill it.
