Forelhost: Awesome Nordic ruin!

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 7:49 am

I was spelunking today, looking for places I hadn't been to, and came across http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Forelhost south of Riften. I thought it would be a typical Nordic ruin, but it kept getting bigger and better. A lot of fun. Also, I'm not sure if I have the perk for extra goodies, but the place is chock full of wealthy draugr, chests and urns. I must've hauled out 20+ of every gem, including flawless diamonds. Talk about "urning" your keep, lol!

Agreed.

It's become a first port of call for warrior playthroughs in that it is easy to get a full set of Ancient Nord Armor and (depending on choosing Ralof) a full set of Stormcloak Officer gear.

Please do not post Spoilers in General.

People come to General to learn about the game without learning about what happens in the game. If they want to know about what happens, that is what the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers section is for.

Do not use quest details or location specific details related to quests/puzzles/NPCs in your posts in this section. General is for discussing gameplay and mechanics and general topics about the the game including but not limited to races, items and their use, magic, enchanting, skills, character builds, criticism, praise, funny random things that happen, places from an esthetic standpoint and and other general topics.

Use the Spoilers Section if you have to post quest details or other spoilers or a thread about the same. I will move this now.

Is this ruin tied to any quest you would be normally be doing as part of a faction or the main quest? Or is it just a ruin you can discover for yourself?

You get given a quest right outside Forelhost , don't want to say much else in case it's considered a spoiler D:

I just started this dungeon this morning (second character to go there.)

IMO, this is one of the better ones, with plenty of enemies. Some of the other, large dwemer dungeons, only have small numbers of enemies, and you spend a lot of time killing 1 or 2, then nothing for a while. Increasing the game-settings doesn't change that. They only get more powerful.

Hopefully someone will mod that when the kit is released.

Yes, a great and challenging starter ruin. You can also get a set of steel plate a little to the NE at a mercenary camp, directly east of Riften.
