Azura's Star Soul Storage Questions

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:42 pm

OK, so much info floating around about this relic I have to ask pointed questions.

1) Does the star 'replace' Grand Soul Gems and all below it? (ie Can I only carry the Star and Black Soul Gems and be fine?)

2) Does the Star store Black Souls?

3) I think people have said that the Star will store Black Souls. If this is true is this a glitch that will be fixed or is it a secret that we are meant to discover as we play?

4) Does it have an infinite capacity of of any/all types of souls?

I'm just trying to declutter my inventory so if I can carry only the Star that weighs nothing it's better than carrying 100 various soul gems of weights varying from 0.1-1.

1.) it can replace but doesn't have to. it will hold any soul out there, including petty. if you got the black azura's star it will even hold npc souls
2.) only if you got the black azura's star
3.) again, see answer 1 and 2
4.) yes, each time you fill it and use it, it will still be in your inventory ready to be used again.

The star will be whatever type you decided it to be. During the quest you can have it become a white or black gem so it will only hold the appropriate souls. The star itself is reusable meaning it won't disappear after you have used its charge. As far as I know once you have it filled, the next gem in your inventory will be next to be filled with the appropriate soul, you can't pick and choose which gem it goes into. It can only old one soul at a time.

So if I carry the Azura's Star (I returned to the chick not to Nelacar) and Black Soul Gems that's all I need?

Does Azura's Star have an infinite capacity or it only holds one soul at a time?

Related question: do Black Soul Gems store hostile NPC souls or just non-hostiles? Like will humanoid bandits and Forsworn souls go into a Black Soul Gem?

Black soul gems are humanoid souls no matter who they are. They capture humanoids while the 'white' soul gems capture creature souls.

OK, thanks, y'all. I had to ask because I've filled so few (if any) Black Soul Gems and haven't killed too many non-hostile NPCs.

Speaking of killing non-hostiles: will killing as a werewolf fill soul gems? I'm guessing not since we can't access our inventory. :P

If you managed to cast soul trap on them before hand and the effect is still up.

No, you are basically unequipped of everything upon turning.

EDIT: ^the post above demonstrates how you could do that.
