Can't change infamy or crime gold.

Hello,

I'm not sure how it happened, but apparantly I am the most wanted man in Markarth. When the guards confront me, I get the dialogue tree to agree to go to jail, but after they tell me that no one esacapes for Cigna mine, I don't end up in jail, but the guards are just standing there with the dialogue option being "What's the problem?"

Basically, this forces me to use the only dialogue option that works, which is to say that I'd rather die than go to jail. Obviously a battle thus ensues, and I end up killing even more people even though I don't want to.

This is interfering with certan quest objectives I have, and for the first time I have decided I need to use a cheat to get around the problem. I have found console commands that are supposed to reduce your infamy and bounty. I have tried these while in Markarth, and neither command seems to be recognized by the console.

So, I'm stuck. Can anyone advise me here?

Thanks very much,

-Neb

It seems you are on the quest where you actually go into the Mines. Can't remember its name. If your not then its bugged, so just complete the quest to unbug it

It's part of the forsworn conspiracy. You are supposed to go to jail and make your way out. Are they just not taking you to jail?

I've already escaped Cigna Mine in a previous quest. The quest I'm on right now asks me to talk to the Jarl. But when I go into that area, even he attacks me. Is there no way to reset my infamy and/or bounty in that area? The console commands I've found don't work.

Thanks,

BTW - it's under the Miscellaneous category, and says "Return to Igmund." I don't remember which quest this was a part of.

If you killed any guards on your way out with the forsworn that could of bugged your game. I had the same issue upon completing that quest (i killed guards) and even the 3 faction codes for markarth werent enough to let me speak with anyone, it did however let me walk in markarth without being bothered from the guards.

Were these the codes you used?:

player.setcrimegold 0 00018aac
player.setcrimegold 0 0008e764
player.setcrimegold 0 0002816c

Not exactly. The codes I found were simply setpccrimegold 0 and setpcinfamy 0.

I'll try the ones you listed. Thanks very much!

Yeah you have to be specific to the hold you are trying to reduce crime for as there are multiple factions who are affected by markarth you need to set it for all of them. Hope it works out.

Well, I typed in the codes you provided. The console seemed to accept the codes, but I'm still being attacked as soon as I enter Understone Keep in Markarth. I can't surrender or pay my fine. The only option that works is to fight. Is there a specific code for the Keep?

Those should be the only three faction codes for markarth. I too had the same problem with the keep part of it and never found a fix. It only happened if I killed any guards upon escaping though. I have done that quest on subsequent playthroughs without killing guards and did not have the problem. It could be a permanent thing I think.....perhaps the console code tcai will allow you to speak with them? It turns off the combat ai I think but im not sure what it will do to the dialogue options.
