Weird: I Killed Thalmor, then got his inheritance?!?!

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 10:07 pm

Earlier in the game I got an unexpected inheritance from Ysolda. I don't know what happened to her or why she left me some gold. But I had completed a quest for her, so we were friends at least.

But what happened today was really strange!

I got a quest to find evidence for the Thalmor that Ogmund is a secret Talos worshipper.
I didn't really want to take the quest but it was one of those "Hello would you help me out ok good here is your new quest well you better get going..." kind of deals.
So I planned a double cross. I got the amulet and took it to back them.
After I gave Ogmund's Talos necklace to that horrible Thalmor creep, I pulled out my bow and shot him and his two flunkies dead.

This was at night and the Legate was sleeping in the same room, and then he threatened to arrest me and put me in jail but strangely he didn't, he just stopped the conversation and so I got away with it.

Anyway, a bit later I was in Whiterun and a courier ran up to me and gave me some gold and a letter explaining that Ondolemar, the Thalmor chief guy that I killed, had left me some money?!? 100 Gold, but the Jarl took 10 for taxes.

Just struck me as really funny at the moment it happened; I truly lol'd.

Yeah the whole idea behind npcs liking you and you getting things like an inheritance if they die sounds good in theory but it doesn't always work out well.

I talked to the guy worshipping talos in whiterun for a while, heard everything he had to say then decided to kill him. Hid behind a building and took him out with an arrow. Got an inheritance from him next run through whiterun, weird.

After I completed "No One Escapes from Cidhna Mine" I killer Thonar Silver Blood because I dislike him, later I got inheritance from him. Probably because I didn't side with the Forsworn.

Does anyone know wat happens with that quest mentioned here in the initial post if you find the amulet of talos, the return it to the thalmor dude, but then steal it from him. How does it affect the quest at all ?

From what I can tell the quest completes when you give him the Talos amulet. I killed the Thalmor right after (yeah, I double crossed them,) but when I looted Ondolemar he didn't have the amulet on him, so I don't think you can steal it back.

Are you talking about the dude who is always yelling loud in Whiterun in front of the Shrine of Talos, by the fountain? I'm tired of hearing him...I think I will end him like you did.

The inheritance stuff is a simple check for did you finish NPC A's quest, this improving their disposition/are they dead/give 100 Septim, less taxes. The creatures do not have a quest check flag like that the game can keep track of. But if you can show me a screen shot with an inheritance note saying "This random Elk died and left you money, Love, the Jarl", then I will take an arrow to the knee. :D

Challenge accepted, Leydenne!

I'm working at the moment, when I arrive home I'll make sure to search in my +1k Screen Shots. I'll post it here.

BUT... Who said it's lie? Let's... leave you a taste of the inheritance bizarreness.. Wait a little.

Here, Leydenne! This is a little taste. A random Master Vampire giving me.. inheritance.

The Elk thing I didn't upload yet. It's too much SS to be uploaded at once. More than 1K, sure.

I'll upload and post it here, if you wish. Master Vampire. No master vampire quest exists in this game.

I will prepare my knee for the arrow, if you can show me an inheritance from an elk  Not a shopped one either!

The vampire one is odd though, for sure. maybe he was just relieved to be free of the shackles of vampirism.

A courier ran up to me shortly after I cleared a Forsaken encampment. I received an inheritence from a Forsaken Forager.

I got a letter from the stable master in Whiterun, thanking me for killing his son/stable hand and assuring me he wouldn't tell anybody. Funny thing was, I killed them both in the same killing spree, just seconds apart. He must have written that letter and posted it damn fast it seems.

Aww. After you do his quest, Ondolemar later says "there are few pleasures in life so welcome as your company." For a few brief seconds, you made him gloriously happy, and he transmitted that to a hastily scribbled will.

Don't look a gift Shadowmere in the mouth, my dovahkiin.

I've never seen this happen before until just now. I was at the College of Winterhold with Uthgerd as a follower. I sent her home, spent about 20 minutes at the college, then went down to Winterhold to the Inn. As soon as I got off the bridge, a naked courier had a Letter of Inheretance from Uthgerd's death. How the hell did that happen? I was planning on killing her myself and turning her into a Thrall, now she's escaped me!
