vampire blues...

so i've been trying to catch sanguinare vampiris and have had no luck :(
initially i wanted to catch this disease on my bosmer. after many attempts spanning over 3 daze (three irl days) i realized duh bosmer's have 50% disease resistance.
so i hoped on my argonian to try my luck in catching this disease. after about the same attempt in trying to contract sanguinare vampiris i also realized "duh, same 50% resist to disease". /uber-fail on my part
when i went with my argonian i got a message in the top left saying, something about vampirism or vampire but i had nothing in my active effects. is it pretty obvious when you contract the disease?
i've tried messing with the vamps in broken fang cave and i did the solitude quest to wipe out the vamps in pinemoon cave (which according to sources is best places to go).

so i guess my question is whats the best race to create a vampire with? generally i steer away from "human" characters if i have the option to, i'd be more then happy to reroll/recreate a khajiit on pc (i have a wickkid khajiit on my ps3).
becoming a vampire would take this game to the next level imo.
reading through other vampire/werewolf posts it seems like werewolves are the choice of preference. i'm starting to think thats only because its easier to become a werewolf than a vampire.
imo it's more rp involved to become a vamp then a wolf, only because afaik wolf-form is activated by you when you feel necessary, and also to my understanding historically when one becomes a werewolf they have no recollection of such actions.

tldr: what's best race for contracting vampirism with? and is it very obvious once you catch the disease? and do resistances reduce the 10% chance in catching disease?

Any race without disease resistance will catch it pretty easily. Yes, the disease should show up in your active effects.

I have had a khajit and breton both catch it within seconds. Both times it was from the vamps using their drain life ability on you, not from melee contact, so maybe try staying a bit of a distance from them so that they switch to using that attack style.

This reminds me of bugchasing in real life.

Weird.

It also helps to do some damage to the vampire and then back off so they can use lifedrain on you. Unfortunately there's no "get brought across by friendly vampire" option in skyrim. Also, my poison immunity is broken. I was kind of counting on that for dealing with the Falmer.

When I get around to creating another character, he will probably be designed to be a vampire.

Race: Dark Elf
Sneak
1-H
Light Armor
Illusion
Destruction
Lockpicking
Pickpocketing
Restoration
Enchanting

or something close

they would be if you had no control over when you transform.

With the number of times I accidentally hit R2 and transform, I really don't have control. ;)

I actually like vampirism on my dunmer assassin character. He moves only by night in any case, rarely getting burned by sunlight. A good percentage of time is also spent inside houses and dungeons, where the sun can't touch him.

About werewolves; yes, they have only one weakness, which is very small (No resting bonuses), but the beast form also doesn't scale as your character levels up, so eventually your character will be stronger in his/her regular form than as a wolf.

I've played both, vampire was fun but the bonuses are pretty weak imo. Werewolf, I was able to completely forget about being a werewolf. Not for me, I like there to be consequences of conditions like that.

My breton vampire took at least half dozen tries to get the vampirism from a master vampire. Also it tells you on the magic menu active effects that you have a disease progressing towards vampirism.
