I’m a newcomer to RPGs, well I was when I started playing Oblivion, and I have enjoyed reading the goings on here on the forum, thought I would join. So let me tell you a little about me, the game me that is.
I’m a Breton spy who was sent to Skyrim by way of Hammerfall to get more insight on the civil war there. I have to tell you my assignment in Hammerfall went a lot better than Skyrim’s so far. First, I get picked up Imperial soldiers who want to execute me right after crossing the border, so I’m thinking someone sold me out, but luckily a dragon disrupted the proceedings. A dragon, are you kidding me, I nearly soiled myself. So now I’m in Skyrim with nothing, all my gear and coin was taken by the soldiers and destroyed by the dragon. So I have to start collecting anything that might help me survive and befriending anyone who might help. These are the basic things you learn in spy school.
So I make it to Whiterun where I become friends with the smithy and an alchemist so I can make some coin. Also trying to help out around town to help blend in, probably not the best choice because now I find out I’m some kind of hero, dragon born I think they call it. Not the best way to keep a low profile so now I have to rethink things. First and foremost is trying to stay alive, it seems everyone and their mother is trying to kill me or have me killed. And dragons, did I tell you about the dragons, they seem to be looking for me because they show up no matter where I am. Now I can hold my own with sword and shield and a fair shot with a bow, but my magic is a little weak. So to help my chances at survival I decide to go to Skyrim’s magic school, another of my many bad choices. They made me their leader, are you serious, what’s wrong with these people?
OK, I figure low key spying isn’t going to work, so I decided to embrace the hero role for now. I have found out a few things. It looks like the Thalmor are pulling the strings on this conflict. I think they’re using this war to weaken the Empire further so they can gain more control. The Legion is losing their seasoned warriors in this war, having to replace them with green recruits, mostly farmers. Ulfric Stormcloak who is leading the rebels, is using religion as his rallying cry, but it’s his ego that’s the biggest problem. He also alienates the other races with his bigoted views so he is not much better than the Aldmeri Dominon. He may not want to destroy mankind but I think he wants to become the tenth divine.
If Skyrim breaks from the Empire it will isolate High Rock from Cyrodiil. We too will have to break from the Empire and create alliances with Skyrim and Hammerfall, which is why I was in Hammerfall to set the ground work for an alliance. So I watch and learn from this war because my decision will affect all of High Rock. In the mean time I do all I can to disrupt the Thalmor.
