Monkey's Bestiary of Skyrim

Animals/Predators:

Skeever:

*Combat - Bludgen it with a club, sword, dagger, pickaxe, or simply bash it with a shield. These things are tricky to hit, though, so watch out for any diseases. They also travel in groups.

*Magic - Use one of the weakest spells you have; They should all do the trick.

*Stealth/Archery - Bash them with your bow up close, because it is a pain to shoot one of these things while they are lunging at you.

Wolf/Ice Wolf:

*Combat - Bash it with your shield, and a few strokes with your blade should finish it.

*Magic - A duel-casted firebolt will work wonders on these things, especially Ice Wolves, as they take more damage against fire.

*Stealth/Archery - Shoot them like a dog.

Saber Cat:

*Combat - Shields are good for blocking their attacks, because they are vicious. These things are mainly offence, and will destroy you if you give them the chance.

*Magic - Do not use Flames/Frostbite/Sparks, as they are too weak and will have you killed. Hurl a few firebolts, or chain-lightning at them. Duelcasting is great with the impact perk, and you will never get touched.

*Stealth/Archery - You can see them from a distance have the upper hand to take them out before they see you.

Bear:

(Tricky creatures these are. Those powerful claws are not meant for braiding hair. Watch out for their power-attacks, as they tend to stand on their hind-legs, before delivering the crushing blow).

*Combat - Stab and hack them constantly and block whenever you see them about to attack.

*Magic - Duelcast firebolt with impact and you should be fine. If you are decent in conjuration, summon a Dremora Lord or a few Atronachs to lend you a hand or watch them do the job for you.

*Stealth/Archery - Kite and shoot ‘em with arrows as they lumber torwards you.

Mudcrab:

(You need help with these things? Shame on you).

Slaughterfish:

(These things are very tricky, as they tend to be in water when they attack, making it a one-way fight).

*Combat- Stand in shallow water before you stab and hack them with a sword.

*Magic - Use a ‘Cloak’ spell in order to damage them without having to pull out spells.

*Stealth/Archery - Stealth is useless and pointless against these fish, best to use a bow and arrow.

Horker:

(These creatures may seem simple to fight, but they travel in packs, and pack a punch. They will only become hostile when you are too close to or hit them).

* Combat- Block their attacks whenever you can, and hack and slice them at a constant rate.

*Magic - Use distance, and duel cast/impact is very useful.

*Sneak/Archery- Sneak attacks do work, but you can also use a bow and arrow and hit them from a distance).

Mammoth:

(You want to attack this thing? Your funeral).

*Combat - Circle this thing, and strike at its legs and hind legs. Those tusks are not just for looks; They will skewer you like a shish-kebab and decrease your health rapidly.

*Magic - Distance is your friend. Blast them with lightning or fire, and perhaps frost to slow it down. And be very watchful for their Giant keepers.

*Stealth/Archery - Use stealth and distance. Be sure before using your bow and arrows, you use the highest damage arrows you have and apply poison, this will increase the amount of damage you do. Repeat the process and if need use an invisibility potion to stay out of harms way. Just be cautious of the giants lurking around.

Mythical Creatures/Monsters:

Chaurus:

(Be very careful when facing these; Chaurus Reapers are among the most deadliest cave-dwellers in Skyrim. If one of these bites you, quickly drink a cure poison potion, otherwise you are screwed. Hopefully you have a lot of health, and a lot of healing potions. And if you survive that, for the love of god, don’t get bit again).

*Combat - Getting up-close with these things is suicidal, but if that’s how you work, then listen close. USE YOUR SHIELD! Those pincers get you, and your screwed. It will slow down, and kill you over time. Use resist-poison enchantments or potions, and hope to god you’re an argonian.

*Magic - Distance is very good and keeps you away from the pincers. Though this will be a problem, as they reside in small, narrow caves. Impact is probably necessary, and will keep you alive.

*Stealth/Archery - Sneak attack with a very nice bow and be good in Archery. Hopefully you’ll be fine.

Frostbite Spider:

(Their poison attacks do harmful damage, but not enough to kill you, depending on the amount of times you have been bitten. Watch out for their spit-attacks, which can strike from a distance).

*Combat- Get up, close, and personal with these things. Block when necessary, and strike when needed, and you will be fine.

*Magic - A nice, strong spell such as Chain Lightning, or duel-casted firebolt will do fine.

*Stealth/Archery - An arrow or two will kill one of these things fine, but there are always more at hand. Be quick with shooting, and kill them all before they reach you.

Troll:

(One of Skyrim’s most fiercest predators. Distinguishable by their lumbering gate, their ape-like cries, and their Cyclops-like eye, you can easily make them out from a distance. But their attacks are vicious, and can break a man’s bones in an instant).

*Combat - Have very very good armor, so you may survive a few attacks. A weapon enchanted with fire damage is good, and a shield is probably needed. Block its attacks, and strike when necessary. Don’t wait too long before attacking, because it will regenerate limbs, blood, and skin tissue in seconds.

*Magic - Fire, fire, and fire. That is all.

*Stealth/Archery - Either sneak past it, or try to kill it with a one-shot sneak attack. If it knows where you are, simply kite and shoot.

Giant:

(Do not fight these until you are of appropriate level and skill. Wear good armor, or be fast at running, and be wary of its club. It tends to send things to the moon).

*Combat - All you need to remember is to block, and you should be fine. Strike whenever possible, and
luckily it will fall on its knees, and then finish the thing.

*Magic - Duel-casting would be a great thing to have, and a powerful spell. If you have 100% less cost on destruction, something like Thunderbolt would completely slaughter it. Good luck.

*Stealth/Archery - Distance, stealth, and good equipment is all you need. Poison your arrows if necessary, and should be fine.

Hagraven:

(These were once vile human witches, and became even more vile. They will destroy you from a distance with fire, and fire only. Their claws are powerful, too. Be very cautious when fighting one).

*Combat - The best technique I have found when slaying these freaks-of-nature, is to get close. Very close. You do not even need a shield; Simply circle around the monster as close as you can, and attack it. The creature will turn slower than you can move around it, forcing it to spin around in circles, missing you by a fraction of your skin with spells. Continue beating it with your deemed weapon, and it will fall soon.

*Magic - This is tricky. As they fight from a distance with magic, and you need distance as a mage, they are even more powerful than when up-close. Try to use duel-cast and Impact in order to stagger it before casting a spell. Then continue to impact it, wearing it down until you blow it to smithereens.

*Stealth/Archery - You will need to be good in sneaking, have a perk invested in Bow sneak attacks, and strike from a distance. If it should live and spot you from the attack, you can avoid the fireballs as you see them coming. Then send an arrow to its gullet, and you will come out victorious.

Spriggan:

(These ’Protectors of Kyne’ are horrible, horrible creatures, made of wood. Despite what mother told you, fire is your friend in this battle. Try to dispatch it quickly, or it will restore all of its health back with a spell. They tend to be invisible most of the time, but are distinguishable by the bright glow, and insects that follow it. Kill them quickly, as being near one will have you constantly drain your health, and quickly kill you).

*Combat - Get close, and power attack it in order to make it stagger, ending its life-drain spell. Dispatch it as fast as possible.

*Magic - Kill it with fire spells.

*Stealth/Archery - Sneak attack, perhaps a fire enchantment on your bow.

Wisp and Wisp-Mother:

(A Wisp-Mother is always surrounded by three of her… Children? Creations? Spirits? Whatever they are, they will defend and float around her constantly. As each wisp lives, the Wispmother is more powerful. Kill the wisps before assaulting the Wisp-Mother. As the Wisp-Mother reaches death, it will try several tricks, such as duplicating itself in order to confuse you).

*Combat - Kill the wisps as soon as possible, and avoid the Mother while doing so. Once the wisps are dead, get close, and attack. Make sure you keep an eye on the real wisp mother, because once she
conjures two duplicates, you will know what is the real one.

*Magic - Chain-lightning is a neat spell to use, as it will kill the wisps at the same time much faster. If you are confused when the wisp mother duplicates herself, simply chain lightning one of them - It will jump from target to target, damaging the real mother.

*Stealth/Archery- It is possible to sneak attack the mother or the wisps. In order to use a sneak attack on the wisps you need to have a good level in your Sneak Skill, 50 is the safe zone. Targeting the Wisps is about timing, once you got the timing down, the others will be easy and then you can target the Mother.

Dwarven Automatons:
(All dwarven automatons will drop a soulgem, filled or unfilled, making Dwemer Ruins an enchanter's dream. If you are intent on powerlevelling your enchanting skill, these are the places for you.)

Dwarven Spider:

(Beware these, because apon death they explode violently with lightning, which can end a wounded adventurer).

*Combat- A few powerattacks can kill these things, and their attacks tend to be weak. Bash it if you find its attacks annoying, and finish it off with your deemed weapon. But watch out for its 'kamikaze' explosion. Resist Shock potions or enchantments are good for these.

*Magic- I suggest you use impact with duelcasting, in order to slow these down, making them an easy target. Then, firebolt it down until death. From a safe distance of course, you don't want that lightning to touch you.

*Stealth/Archery- Most dwarven spiders are busy mining, patrolling, or simply standing still, making them easy targets to sneak by. If that doesn't float your boat, do a sneak attack with a bow, and that should kill them easily. Don't use poison, as they are resistant to it.

Dwarven Sphere:

*Combat- These things move fast, but with proper shield bashing, these things won't even touch you. Strike when necessary, and block or bash when it attacks.

*Magic- Duel-casting firebolt works wonders, as it only will take a few hits to bring one down. Plus, as firebolt catches on fire, the more you attack it, the greater damage it does.

*Stealth/Archery- You may see these huddles in balls as you sneak by, making them tricky to find before they find you. Detect life shout or spell would work nicely, so you can make them out before you tear it apart with a nicely placed arrow.

Dwarven Centurion

(A true reason to fear the Dwarven creations-- Their steam is powerful, and freezing to the touch, strong enough to kill a man with the pure force of it).

*Combat - Shield bash, spell breaker to block the shield, and power attacks to bring it down.

*Magic - Impact, and maybe a ward or two to block the steam. Just constantly impact it, and summon a Dremora in order to distract and finish it.

*Stealth/Archery - A nice sneak attack would do nicely, but these are resistant to poison. Wear it down with many arrows, and you may live to speak of it.

Undead, Draugr, and Dragonpriests:

Draugr:

(Draugr are one of the most common creatures in Skyrim, and inhabit most tombs and burial crypts that are located in skyrim. Draugr and Restless Draugr are easy fights. Draugr Wights may prove a challenge, Draugr Scourges are mighty foes, and may make an adventure quiver.

The Draugr Deathlord are the generals from long ago and can be challenging to an adventure to fight. They tend to have ebony weapons, which may prove useful to an adventurer strong enough to kill one.

As for Draugr Death Overlords, are powerful enough to dispatch one foolish enough to enter in a single strike; Their Thu’um is powerful, and use it as a weapon as one does a sword. Luckily, there are a few of these, and tend to be in few crypts, as the crypts would be built solely for them).

*Combat- If you have shouts, use it. An unrelenting force shout can easily change the battle from you dieing, to you winning. When the draugr is on the ground, strike it with as many attacks necessary, and block whenever it is about to attack you.

*Magic- Duelcasting impact is a life-saver here, and will help you out alot. Make sure you are good with your accuracy, and blast them with fire, frost, or lightning right before they shout. Continue to beat them down, until death.

*Stealth/Archery- Most Draugr you can already see lieing in wait on counters, shelves, walls, so on so forth. With a high sneak skill and a good bow, you can make it past these draugr without being seen, or if you don't like it that way, with all of them dead before waking.

Dragon Priests:

(These are the terrors of a child’s nightmares. No, a grown man’s nightmares. These creatures are thought to be the old Prophets and High Priests of the Dragons, and were horrible powerful even when they were alive. Dragon Priests tend to either use Frost, Fire, or Lightning magic, and conjure Atronachs from the plane of oblivion when needed.

They use staffs, and the most powerful of them all have a unique mask bestowed apon them by the dragons themselves. I have few advice to go against these creatures, should you ever find one).

*Combat - Run at it, and never let it get away from you. They tend to move backwards and shoot devastating spells; But should you get close enough and power attack it enough, it will stagger, allowing you to land the blows vital to finishing it.

*Magic - Duelcasting Impact is necessary, and wards are a good idea. The wards will block the most powerful spells, despite the ward will shatter. And impact will keep the priest from moving much, or finishing you with a spell. Summon a Dremora or two to keep it occupied - As Dragonpriests constantly move back, the Dremora will probably not hit it much, but at least keep it off of you.

*Stealth/Archery - Land a very, very good sneak attack, and continue to wear it down with arrow. If need be use an invisibility potion or spell to get another sneak attack on the priest.

Dragons:

Dragon, Blood, Frost, Elder and Ancient Dragons:

*Combat - Spellbreaker is useful to fight dragons but not necessary. If you so happen to have this shield it will help block their breath attacks. Without their breath, they prove much weaker than one might think. Still, beware their fangs, claws and tail. Before they either breath fire or snap at you, shield bash them- This interrupts them, giving you the vital opportune to kill it.

*Magic - Duelcasting Impact, and a powerful projectile spell is needed. If done successfully, they will never even touch you, as you will interupt their attacks before they can either breath, or get close to you.

*Stealth/Archery - When the dragon is flying in the air it can be difficult to land a shot. The dragon will however land at some point, use this opportunity to take aim. You can also shoot the dragon while its hovering in mid-air for a breath attack or when its taking off back into the air from the ground. If you so happen to have a high enough sneak level, it is possible to sneak up on a sleeping dragon and use a stealth attack on them.

This is here to tell you all about the enemies of skyrim, how to defeat them, or just some info on them. I hope you all like it.

Thanks to Bats for helping clean this up, add some needed info, and more.

*Sigh* I'll comment because I feel bad for people when they type a bunch and no one replies.

I like your tips for fighting things, they are mostly good advice.

To make your list a bit more appeasing to the eye, I would use the bullet point feature as well as underlining the names of the creature at the top of each section.
