Some brief advice on my vampire build...

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:08 am

Alright basically, level 34 Redguard Vampire who specializes in everything thievery and stealing. I've never done the Unusual Gem questline-ness, so this character was a response to that. I'm only a few gems away from completing it, along with being halfway through the thieve's guild questline.

Almost all of my perks are focused within Sneaking, Lockpicking, and Pickpocketry, because this is one of the very few builds that I have yet to finish.

One of the gems I'm missing is from the Thalmor Embassy.

My problem?

I haven't started up with the dragons yet, and have a fear of them absolutely wiping the floor with me because I haven't really thought ahead for dragon killing <.<

The question?

I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to invest five perks into Alteration in order to get the 30% magic resistance. Would that help me in my fight at all, or would it just be a waste of perks? If not alteration, I was probably going to invest more into Speech and Alchemy to round out my money-making abilities. I don't want to put too many perks into combat, smithing, or enchanting, because I've done all of that to death. Just want to know if, with the current build, would it be wise to get the magic resistance or should I just find some alternate means of doing this?

Opinions? Alternative advice would be beneficial.

That would be a waste of points, you'd be much better off putting 5 points in the first perk on enchanting and making elemental resist gear. The magic resist isn't as effective as straight element resistence and that's a ton of points to use for it especially considering several will do nothing at all.

Your best bet if you don't want to enchant is to find high ice and fire resistence boots. A 40 or 50% resist makes an incredible difference. Also note nightingale armor has 50% ice resist.

Also don't forget Atronach stone has a big magic resist, 50% if I recall correctly
