deleting all of your saved games, and start over again.

Have you guys ever thought of just deleting all of your saved games, and just starting over again? I'm thinking of doing this but I'm somewhat hesitated. Theirs so much that I missed because I was rushed.

Naaahhhhh, you might need some of those old files just for references. Sometimes it's useful to look stuff up and compare it with other files.
Keep one file per character, and consider them retired.

I delete the oldest toons regularly. Right now I have a storage folder with - um - 8 toon folders in it. And two other toon folders in the TESVSGM folder - I switch back and forth between them.

The first 5 toons I played (including the only one who finished the MQ) I deleted a couple weeks ago.

Why do you need to delete your previous saves to start a new character?

Oh, I don't. I just delete the folders of save games for toons I know I'm never going to play again.

I may remake a few of my characters, particularly my Paladin and Nightblade, when the CK has been out for a while and magic mods like Midas' and Phendrix's have progressed further. I'm already holding off on my more magic heavy playthroughs until the CK.

Because all of my previous saved games (with an excption to my current one) all won both wars, completed almost every quests their is, and joined in every guild. I'm generally at around 40 level. I even downloaded a couple of mods to make traveling a bit more exciting, and to make the enmies a bit more stronger so I can have at least some challenge.

I do something similar to Serethil - I have 2 retired characters, but kept a final save for each of them, and stuck them into a storage folder.

an addition I don't want to become a file hoarder. Sure I have 1TB hard drive... I just don't want to become an excessive file hoarder.

Uh. You'd curl up and die if you looked at my drives then I guess. I have about 2TB stored on around 5TB of space. I still have every email I've ever sent/received, not to mention every file I've ever downloaded. Among other things.

Yes. My name is PackRat IRL.

[@UncPain - I don't even keep a final save.... I just don't care about them once I haven't ever loaded a toon in a month or so....]

Serethil, Thanks for the reminder so I can prevent from emailing you in the future, as you may potentially use my past email against me as blackmail material :x

I am in the process of getting a CD shredder RL so I can get rid of some of my old stuffs that I don't even use anymore.

Oh, I'm not larcenous at all.... no worries there. I have been very glad on occasion to still have client emails from years back though - saved my rear a couple of times with the client from hell.... (that would be the one I finally fired a couple of years ago, after literally 10 years of hell with him - NO amount of money was worth the abuse....)

And we definitely shred IRL paper etc. Old drives I take to a local place to dispose of, AFTER husband beats them to a pulp with a 10 pound sledge (yeah, really).

I was saving one night on my 360, and the power blinked out, corrupting my save of 200 hours....
I got mad and deleted everything on my HD for Skyrim and started completely over... Have me a bad-A destruction/conjuration Mage now:)

I see no problem with it...I do it constantly. The only character I've ever kept was my third one, an Altmer mage that just completely wrecked everything in her path. I'm on my 13th character or so now, and I only have three active ones at once. I don't tend to keep them around, I guess xD

I just did that for the first time the other day. A fresh start is just what I needed. Having a blast this time around.

I did the same thing early on, but for some reason my save number was high, somewhere around 500 saves... with only 3 saves. So I uninstalled and deleted all Skyrim related files. First save... # 501 lol so now I'm in the 1400s on 3 chars rotating. Thought I'd start off with save #1 after doing all of that.

Oh yea, did that with my very first character. I also started an assassin and deleted her after 30 levels and made a new one. LOL I have currently 3 characters, and I keep a save on each of them.

I also delete my save games every other day, to clear the files. Otherwise I would have over 3000 saved games on my PC! :)

I usually have about a hundred or so save slots for a character by the time I am done with them. I only keep the first 2 or 3 slots and about 5 milestone saves like ending the MQ or whatever and the last save slot. The rest get tossed when I archive the character.

By the time I'm level 20 or so on a toon, I generally have around 500 saves.... for ONE toon....

I have found that at a point in the game that i am not happy with my character for some reason.

usually between lev 30 - 50. not enough shouts or not balanced enough, etc.

i must be on my 15th- 20th character by now.

try deleting back to a save that you are happy with and play from there.

if that doesn't work delete all and start again.

Did that twice already  First time I just wasn't satisfied with my character, and after using tgm to slay a couple of dragons I grow tired of the game a couple of days. Was at level 23, around Christmas. Started again, but I didn't like being an Imperial in the end. As I love playing as a mage with one handed weapons I started for the third time, now as a female high elf. Very cool so far!

Go for it, and look around Helgen and Riverwood just as you did the first time. I feel I enjoy the game more, now I have a character I really like!

I play my games off my C drive which is a fast (10,000 RPM) but small (70gig) drive. The drive runs games flawlessly - even modded Oblivion - but I only have room for one game (and its saves) at a time. So I regularly delete my old saves, because, basically, I have to.

But, beyond that, I find there is something optimistic about starting over. I think I see it as a chance to erase my past mistakes. If only I could do it in real life.
