Dead Thrall Problems

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 6:51 am

How come it is that I seem to be able to bring back random civilians with ease, yet the Stormcloak guards that I find dead on the road can not be resurrected? And yes, I am aiming properly at them.

I don't know. I've not tried it with them, but do it on a thalmor soldier from the Thalmor Embassy (heard they cap out at level 36? I'm 69, so they'd be at the cap I guess.)

She is lots of fun. I killed her at home, then smithed her glass armor to legendary and enchanted it for bow and one hand where I could. Then I tossed
her a legendary daedric bow, shield and one hand sword; She goes to town now. You stuff all the junk back in her body, cast dead thrall again and its on.
I love going back to the embassy with her, and Mjoll (my regular follower gal), then killing her own thalmor buddies again.

It just might not work on regular guards.

-------------

Also, not sure on this, but:

I had that daedric sword enchanted for absorb life, 28, or something. I just assumed that it would not work anymore for her
(since they can't recharge it.) When she fights stuff, she always has that "red blood" light thing, like it is svcking their life too.
Do the npcs not need to recharge stuff? It was empty when I gave it to her, but she always has that red blood/absorb life thing.

guards scale to your level and after level 40 they will become immune to dead thrall.

charges are indeed consumed but they may keep going even after the weapon is tecnically "burned out". further testing would have to be done.

Well, level 50+ means I can not collect them. Can I off Esbern and Delphine though? They want me to kill Paarthurnax, but I would rather kill them then the other way around... possible to resurrect them?

i think their flagged as essential, but there are ways to bypass this through console. assuming their levels are >40 then you will be able to thrall them :o.

From what I have read in previous post, Esbern and Delphine cannot be killed.

Do what I did on http://youtu.be/ZKonJm34bsg Unfortunetly they're unable to die so I like to pretend that I killed them by shouting them off the mountain :)

Hmmm, what about vampires and other bandits? Are they able to be thralled?

all bandits can be thralled (max level 28 for bandit cheifs), vampires up to level 40 can be thralled- typically master vampires.

My problem is that my Thrall just disappears after I fast travel or load a new area. Occasionally they're still there but when they're not there, they remain in my active effects. Weird

This is a known bug. See the Wiki: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dead_Thrall

Up to level 50 vampires if you have the necromage perk

A flame/frost/shock cloak wll clear them from your active effects.

Hopefully enough people will post to the discussion on the current and future patches (currently 1.4). With enough vocal people, maybe they will get around to fixing the Dead Thrall problem. As is, it plays nothing like what I assume it was intended. You can barely fast travel with a Dead Thrall because you will probably lose it. You may or may not lose you Dead Thrall when you enter certain caves and locations. Thralls will occasionally just die. Some thralls are permanent, some are semi-permanent depending on when you visit the house you store them in, and some will just disappear after 1 day. Necromancy is currently all over the place on performance and it MUST be fixed. Some people say that it only affects a small minority of players, thus it's not worth fixing. Hell with that! What if I say only a minority of players go to do the "Blood on the Ice" quest? Does that mean they shouldn't address that problem? Of course not. Whether this is a glitch, bug, or just seriously poor performance as designed, it really needs to be fixed so this game mechanic works as intended or as close as possible.
