Please Help.

The misc quest is "find the copy of the old ways"

This Side quest takes you to a place called Volskygge where you battle through evil lords and at the very end theres a chest that the book is in, along with various other items.When
you tract the quest it has a white arrow pointing to the chest so you know your in the right place.
Problem i have is that early in the game i cleared this volskygge area but didnt have the quest appear at the time and i still have the book in my inventry.When i get to doing the
quest i get to the end,the chest items appear except the book and i cant book the book back into the chest and the quest does not say completed and the white arrow
still hangs above the chest even though its empty.
Does anyone know have the solution to my problem as i hate to see incomplete misc quests in my journel especially when i have completed it 3 times but with the same outcome.

Any Skyrim experts with the solution to my problem will be deemed as an absolute legend of skyrim and i will be ever in their debt.

I.am on a pc version of the game and i have read the book many times

Look up the item number and on console command player.drop (item number) 1 and then pick up the item again

Try

setstage MGR20 20

or if that doesnt work

setstage MGR20b 20

setstage MGR20 20

or

setstage MGR20B 20
