Skyrim Needs and desirves Better! [Spoilers]

Dont get me wrong i have always loved elder scrolls from a story perspective. I feel like the content and set pieces are somewhat lacking in skyrim.

1. Better set pieces:
[Spoilers]

Who else was disappointed when you capture the dragon and ride him. I was hoping to get a birds eye view of all of skyrim. but no it just shows me and the dragon fly off to the side and then black loading screen.

also

The ending was somewhat lame. I was much more excited to see the heros (sorry for spelling) Ysgramor, and olaf one-eye. Then i was to fight Alduin. In obilivions ending you get the god akatosh manifest and resulted in a city being destroyed and you got to witness 2 gods battling it out. In skyrim all you get to do is fight akatosh's first born son? OHHHHHH BOOOOOOOY.

I very much enjoy the mythology in elder scrolls. I know in morrowind the ending was much more sentimental because you got to see Azura at the end. You also got to kill a homemade god that the dwemer made. Also in morrowind you got to kill the god Almelexia. It just seems in skyrim they somewhat differed from using the mythology. Except at the end of the thieves guild when you see Nocturnal.

Just seemed that on a larger scale you play a much more important role in morrowind and oblivion. and you witness divine interventions. While in skyrim.... eh not so much.

2. Daedric Quests need to be better!!:
I was very disappointed when i found out that the majority of the daedric quests all you do is talk to statues of them. I very much enjoyed bloodmood from morrowind because the prince Hircine make you play his twisted game of hunting. Very few times in skyrim do you ever get to see a daedric lord manifest in a human and tangible form.

3. More political turmoil:
Imperials, Stormcloacks, and the Thalmore. That’s it! and you cant even play though the thalmore and see what they are all about. Morrowind had multiple "houses" all with there own influence and quest lines. It was nice to see the political ramifications that happened in each sector of morrowind. There should be more backstabbing and bribes. and have each political quest line weave in and out of each other.

4. Better mages guild quest line:
The mages guild "college of winterhold" quest felt too short and rushed. Everything seemed pretty straight forward and there weren’t many mysteries. i was more perplexed by the oblivion artifact and the Atronoch table below the college. They need to expand on this and make an opposing mages guild confrontation. I felt like the Dark brotherhood was pretty damn near perfect. Had a lot of set pieces. There was some mystery involved. I felt like i was doing something important! only thing that could have been better was if a certain political group asked you to kill the emperor, and not a single contract.

5. Bring back spell making, more different kinds of spells, & better enchanting:
These systems felt dumbed down since morrowind. i know there is a certain learning curve when you first pick up an elder scrolls game. but i just felt constricted. Like i had to use this flame spell, or i couldn’t use levitate, or mark and recall. Or i had to put damage modifiers when enchanting weapons. Blah.

6. Make the world bigger!:
Oh dear god morrowind and daggerfall's worlds were epic. I have personally only found about 50% of morrowinds lands and i believe it gives a sense of mystery.

7. Remove fast travel system:
I believe that this system has taken away a lot of the world in skyrim and oblivion. making people walk from place to place puts and emphasis on exploration and better immersion. I think being able to hire a ride from town to town is great. But past that i feel like it lets people rush through the game.

Overall i think gameplay and graphics wise. Skyrim is amazing. The fighting mechanics have never been better. The spell effects look really good, but unfortunately i feel like there is a lot of gameplay and not a lot of story. I personally think morrowind is the best elder scrolls, and i would like to see more of the things in morrowind pulled into the next elder scrolls game.

1. Better set pieces:

You want to ride that which want to kill you. Your logic scares me.

2. Daedric Quests need to be better!!:

There is the same type of quest from the same Daderic prince. Also you see Sheogorath ;)

3. More political turmoil:

DLC's, my friend. Plus theres the political upheaval in Makarth. Whiteruns Greymans and Battleboars. Dark elves in the slums with the nords. la la la...

4. Better mages guild quest line:

Yer, could of been longer. However compared with Oblivion, this one had more scripts :P or felt like it.

5. Bring back spell making, more different kinds of spells, & better enchanting:

I agree here. Although I prefer the enchanting in Skyrim.

6. Make the world bigger!:

It's the same size as Oblivion. Wait till DLC's which will be expansion size.

7. Remove fast travel system:

Don't like it? Don't use it.

Agree.
2. Daedric Quests need to be better!:
Agree. The items need to be better, level with you, and the quests need to have a path to foiling the Daedra's plans.

4. Better mages guild quest line:
Disagree. I rather liked it. But I didn't play the DB yet.

5. Bring back spell making
agree

6. Make the world bigger!:

Disagree. I want a game, not a second job. Morrowind was too big. I prefer quality vs. quantity.

Disagree. Since you can remove it yourself by not using it, they shouldn't. I like the feature. Dramatic compression is great.

I was disappointed in not being able to “ride” Odahviing as well. I felt Beth missed an opportunity to have one of the most definitive epic moments in the game – especially since Odahviing TELLS you to get ready to see the world as only a dragon can see it or whatever. Then? …..fade to black…teleport…yawn.

But after really breaking it down, from a technical perspective I believe I know why they didn’t do it. The main problem I see is how would they move the player through 3 different worldspaces in a cut scene. They start in the Whiterun interior world, launch from the platform at Dragonsreach and somehow get from the Whiterun Interior world to the greater Skyrim exterior world and through it to the Skuldafn worldspace (since this is the only way you can get there). I think this presented them with a huge challenge that they couldn’t overcome. (I admit I’m no expert, but based on my limited knowledge of modding and how stuff works that’s my best guess.

Most of your other points have been beat to death around here and I don't feel the need to go there anymore. Just wanted to comment on the first point.

You are kidding, right?

In Oblivion, you aren't the main character. Martin is the main character. You are Martin's errand boy.

Agreed.

All the Daedric quests had you talking to shrines in Oblivion.

Nah, maybe more war stuff.

4. Better mages guild quest line:
The mages guild "college of winterhold" quest felt too short and rushed. Yes, I hated the College

Could use spellmaking back.

6. Make the world bigger!:
Oh dear god morrowind and daggerfall's worlds were epic. I have personally only found about 50% of morrowinds lands and i believe it gives a sense of mystery.

Skyrim is big enough, and it is bigger than Morrowind I believe

7. Remove fast travel system:

I think being able to hire a ride from town to town is great. But past that i feel like it lets people rush through the game.

Don't use it, most people love the FT system.

Yes but you get to witness akatosh manifest himself which i have always wanted to see. Akatosh is the god of gods.

That's true :). Not a believer in Alduin being Akatosh, then?

While I realize I'm rather late to the party on TES, it's still kind of a [censored]slap to the face learning the endings to Morrowind and Oblivion (games I just purchased and haven't gotten through yet) in a forum that the information isn't really "meant" for, I guess. But still, I'm late for spoilers. But I'm still allowed to complain, dagnabbit! >.<
