Companions: Purity of Revenge bug...

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 7:07 pm

So I went and completed "Blood's Honor" and reported back to Jorrvaskr, but ran into the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Blood%27s_Honor#Forever_Mourning_Bug. I have completed the quest for the Helm of Winterhold and I presume cleared Driftshade Refuge. Not sure why this causes a conflict with a totally unrelated quest in a totally unrelated location, but it's a documented bug and I've run into it.

Has anybody tried the "go somewhere and wait 32 days before reporting back to Jorrvaskr" fix for this, and did it work for you?

I'll be rather ticked off if this doesn't work.

Nobody face this problem? I'd hate to wait 32 frikkin' in-game days and have it not work.

Bumping this from last night. I'd really like to know if anybody's actually had this work before I take the time to do it.

Yes I had this bug. So what I did was fast travel from Riften to Markarth (which is about 24 hrs) 30 times. Faster than waiting for 30 different 24 hour periods, and if you travel from stable to stable you can kill a few dragons and get some souls while you're at it. It's a pain in the ass but it works, Driftshade respawned and I was able to complete the Companaions questline.

I am glad that it worked.

another thought ....have you tried to load the autosave when you exit the witches cave?

do that if you can and do not go to Jorvaskr.

Yeah, I've definitely got a save available to go back to before I went to Jorrvaskr, so that isn't a problem. (I'm on PC.) I just wanted to make sure that the recommended fix actually worked before I went through it. I've already completed the quest for the Jarl of Winterhelm, so I suppose all I have to do is let thirty-two days pass between getting the witch-heads and returning to Jorrvaskr.

Thanks for the help. I'll post results after I get it done.

Okay, it worked. My load times are long enough that it was actually faster for me to just wait thirty-some-odd times in Solitude, then I actually walked all the way back to Whiterun and Jorrvaskr. (Ran into not one but two seperate Thalmor parties, one of which was escorting a prisoner. Had to go ahead and see them on their way out of Mundus, which is what I hear they want, anyway.) Anyway, I went to Jorrvaskr and the trick does work and the next quest starts correctly.

Thanks.
