I'm totally stuck on the bit in the Golden Claw where you have to rotate the three ring then insert the golden claw.

I have the Golden Claw, that can be inserted OK but doesn't open the door as I know I need to rotate the three rings first.

Each ring says to press "A" to activate but when I do so nothing happens.

I have seen that other people have had this problem but all suggested solutions haven't worked for me - I have left the room & reentered, I have left the room saved/loaded and tried again, I have tried from all angles.

I have the XBox 360 version.

Any help welcome as it would be a right effort to have to give up on this quest having got so far.

You need to leave the dungeon, not just the room with the door. This happened to me once and after I left and re-entered it was fine. Annoying, though.

Edit: Some people have said they needed to leave and re-enter several times, but I did it just once and it was fixed. Hope you get it sorted.
