No, that spell is oftentimes unreliable. I was trying to do the White Phial Quest once, and it sent me on a looping path that ended up point back towards town.
Another time I was trying to find the most direct route to Riften, and it pointed me to Kynesgrove. I still followed it, just to see where it would go, and once I got passed the town, it pointed back towards it. Turn around and it goes back in the other direction.

It doesn't work for me at all. Can't see any 'line' or path at all.

If you have your marker set it goes to that and not the quest objective. So remove your marker and have only one active quest at a time.

I disabled all my quests except one, turned off my marker, and stood directly in front of my objective. It told me to turn around and go the other way.

I've never had a problem with Clairvoyance, but then I haven't used it all that much. I find it useful to get to places I don't know how to get to, but otherwise I just follow the quest arrow or map marker.

The spell sends you into cliffsides, the floor or the secret door youre supposed to exit the dungeon from with depressing regularity.
I had wanted to roleplay a Dunmer who was into ancestor worship, and that spell would be his ancestors guiding him.
Well, I had to give up on that, or conclude my ancestors hate me.

It seems to work right most of the time - but sometimes it just doesn't point anywhere. AFAIK it has never pointed me in a wrong direction, just stops pointing anywhere

edit : it will actually show a message : "no direct path found" sometimes in the outside areas

Claravoyance doesn't work? You mean it's a rip off? A scam, even? Whoda thunkit...

Honestly, the game gives you more than enough "guidance" already.

I remember the first time I went to Blackreach, it was very early on with my very first character. I got lost for over 4 hours RL time trying to use clairvoyance to find my objective in there. I think it scarred me for life because now I hate every time I have to go in there. Just too many Falmer lurking around every corner....

I actually wanted to turn my quest marker off and have Clairvoyance just in case. And because I thought it was cool.

thanks

a couple of thoughts

I tend to use clairvoyance in dungeons when the character reaches a fork in the road. outside of that the quest marker is clear enough

if the whole are is sufused by a blue glow that is usually because the charecter is pointing in the wrong direction or is too near the exit. turn round and take a step back. see if that helps.

I was following Vilkas to the Tomb of Ysgramor once and using Clairvoyance as I went, until we got to this area, where Vilkas would run up a hill and then run back down and then run back up again. I used Clairvoyance and it pointed behind me, so I spin around and go down the hill and use Clairvoyance again and it pointed up the hill. We were stuck in a loop.

Another time I used Clairvoyance it directed me straight into a wall. :stare: I stopped using Clairvoyance after that.

Yeah that is what it does.
People that say we dont use it properly clearly have not used it instead of questmarkers.
As I said before, it more often than not points you to the secret exit youre supposed to leave the dungeon from.
