I am assuming if I am a bad ass thief and have sneaky boots, sneak skill out the wazzo, etc....


and I have any companion, their sneak is crap compared to mine.


my question is...do enemies detect both of us if they fail their sneak against an enemy perception?

also, do they roll their own sneak or do they get to use mine?

In my experience a follower can, and will be, detected when the stealthy player is not. I have on many occasions had bad guys rushing straight past me to get at my follower. In fact, I am now starting to use this as a tactic: I go sneaky in front, Mjoll clumps along behind, bad guys spot her and as they rush past me I stab with the every-trusty daggers for a one-hit kill without having to do any hard work for it - works a treat with Falmer, not sure it would with the Forsworn though .

More evidence on how dumb the AI is at times.

thanks! that answers both, because if the companion used my sneak, then we would both be seen at same time.

I watched a dragon have Faendal as a snack as he tried to sneak.

It helps greatly to give them Muffle and Fortify Sneak enchanted pieces to wear.
