Enchanting: Quick Leveling

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 8:48 pm

What is the most abundant item that i could buy or find thats enchantable? I'm trying to get my enchanting skill to 100 so i can get the "two effects" perk because im roling a pure mage. Enchantments that reduce the cost of spells in a certain school and increase magick regeneration x2 would be amazing for my guy right now.

I would like to know as well. Personally, I find enchanting difficult and boring to level. I get most of my enchanting points by disenchanting stuff I find. But putting enchanments on items to raise the skill seems like it would take FOREVER to max.

Something that is plentiful... Iron Daggers. Put the lowest Enchantment on them that you can, for the cost of a Petty or slightly higher Soul Gem. Most every enemy carries Iron and/or Steel Daggers. If this is the route you are taking, then I think that this is the best option for you.

You actually level it up more when you enchant weapons, armor, etc.

Clear a few bandit camps and loot the weapons.
Visit court mages and the College, buy up all filled petty, lesser and common gems.
If you don't already know Absorb Health, Fear or Banish Daedra enchants, visit blacksmiths until you find one.

Enchant and sell the weapons, and do it again

You actually level it up more when you enchant weapons, armor, etc.

It all depends on the price of the item. Disenchanting a 2000g item gives you much more progress than making a 200g enchant.

Do higher grade soul gems bump the bar up further? Or is it like smithing where you can just spam iron daggers all day long?

Use Iron Daggers and Petty Soul Gems. However, use the MAXIMUM enchantment you can find, not the MINIMUM. You get more the higher the value of the enchantment. Check the cost of the resulting item and you will see what is worth more. Example: Damage Stamina and Turn Undead are worth the same, but they are worth much more than Frost Damage and most other enchantments. Absorb Health (or other Absorbs) is worth even more. NOTE: use weapons and weapon enchantments, not apparel enchantments, as the latter are worth much less.

Also, Disenchant everything to gain a complete list of enchantments (this takes a while and some decent gold).

Be sure to use the Mage's Stone and the Well Rested bonus.

You can rely solely on Disenchanting for up to about 35-40. After that, you can go crazy with Iron Daggers, Petty Soul Gems, and Damage Stamina (or Turn Undead if you prefer) until you get to about 65-70. You will jump several character levels doing this, so be warned!

Do what I do, smith as many rings as you can and then enchant as many of them as you can. It gets your smithing up and your enchanting up if your ok with the smithing making the game easy later on. If your wanting to use things that you find then what I do is carry as many light things as I can from dungeons/caves/forts etc and enchant them and then drop them or go and sell them. Ive probably dropped about a million golds worth of loot by doing that though :/ lol

Yes, using higher grade gems increases the value of the item. Thus you gain more progress.

You only need to smith like 400 iron daggers to get 100 smithing. If that takes you all day, even a whole in-game day at the default timescale (20:1), you should probably avoid first person shooters.

fastest way possible to enchant is to pickpocket every dresser in every town, i take all boots hats clothes etc etc because it's LIGHTWEIGHT and you can carry more to the enchanting table. collect and buy all soul gems from all vendors whenever possible. also use the soul trap spell every encounter in the wilderness, even on goats and deer. trust me it doesnt take long at all to level enchanting...

I just had kind of a fun time following a river all the way from Markarth to Solitude, soul trapping every mudcrab I came across (and finding a metric ton of nirnroot in the process.) For enchantable items I made a whole bunch of leather bracers (1 leather + 2 leather strips). You can usually buy pelts from general merchants, so you'll end up with more raw materials than if you just went the iron dagger route. Plus enchanting weapons is a bit more annoying, since you have to verify the enchantment strength every time.

Good tips here.

IF I decide to buff out my character when I hit level 50 or something, I'll be doing the same.

"All day long" is just an expression. Thanks for taking that completely out of context! What a great contribution to the community.
