I just realised something about those guards

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:16 pm

Noticing how almost every single guard in skyrim semms to have gotten an arrow struck on their knee making then becomes guards it semms, i wondered, how the hell can they run so well then? Since according to then they were adventurers like me, and a single arrow made then incapacitated to continue their life of exploring, they semm to be doing way too welll on their legs for that to be true.
I know, it's just a random comment on the part of the NPCs, but still, it makes you wonder.

Where have you been? This entire chain of thought spawned what is probably the most prevalent Elder Scrolls meme in history.

That's essentially what a meme is. Something people think is funny so they spam it everywhere.

The reason the line is stupid/funny is because it's such a specific story, and yet every single guard seems to have experienced it.

It's suffering ghost of the knee-wounded-adventurer. It has ability to take under his control any guard at any time when he wants to spell out his miserable story.

I used to have a sweetroll, then i took and arrow to the knee.

Seriously though, it is a great phrase and attracted alot of attention to skyrim. I don't mind if multiple guards had some bad luck. Maybe that is what some criminals aim for?

Somebody on these forums once said it was probably Nord slang for getting married and I always liked that idea.

"I used to be an adventurer like you... but then I got the guard captain's daughter pregnant... *sigh*"

Good retirement job for ex-adventurer if you think about it, being a guard in Whiterun is a cushy number imo.
Explains why there are so many of them getting arrows in the knee.

It's less emasculating than admitting the wife won't let you go dungeon crawling anymore.

Think the arrow in the knee thing is weird? If you join the Dark Brotherhood, they start saying this:

Spoiler
"Psst. I know who you are. Hail Sithis!

Every single guard in the game. Think about that.

And yet somehow you still get in trouble for murdering people. Apparently, Skyrim should have devolved into an anarchistic wasteland ages ago.
