Glaciers. Can you scale them?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:00 am

Just got round to exploring the north coast (lv 26 and only just got round to going there). Quite a cool part of the world.
Anyway, there are loads of glaciers in the water, I tried to climb onto and couldn't, I was wondering If it is possible to climb them and is there anything worth finding?

Oh you mean icebergs. No. Well there is one but it's really an island rock encased in ice. And one time early in the game I was just exploring that area and found that's where this special ice wraith is located, and there's this crevasse on top of that rock too I found out later. And while I was exploring around the base of it I heard this thud next to me, and this message popped up "Quest: Join Imperial Legion Failed" "Quest: Join Stormcloaks Successful" and that's how I joined the Stormcloaks. Luckily I was intending to do that anyway. Whatever it was I was supposed to kill to join the Stormcloaks must have fallen into the crevasse.

Glaciers on mountains? Yes... sort of.... well I did fall into a crevasse once and died a very unglorious death. Not the way a I'd hoped to get to Sovengarde at level 46, so I'd really advise against it. You get out on these glaciers and you can get to this spot and look around and feel like a cat stranded on top of a telephone pole.

I'm thinking I should have been keeping a journal of what exactly happened through each day, and what my thoughts were. My play through has had me laughing hard at times. And it's been serious at times.

You guys ever pause to listen to the conversations the bandits have while you're sneaking around IF they can't hear you.

The Stormcloak initiation requires you to kill the ice wraiths on that island. That should also be the location of the Serpent Stone (?).

There are also some neat shipwrecks in this area. Some water breathing gear or potions might be helpful...

There is an unmarked location with a surprise very far towards the northwest edge of the map. It's just a bit northwest of the last marked location with the crazy old man and the cube in it. It's basically s cave in an iceberg if I remember correctly.

Otherwise there is a lot to find in the sea of ghosts but its hard to tell if the large masses are icebergs, glaciers or ice covered islands.
