I had just finished the quest where you kill the first dragon. After turning it in I went and did a companions quest along the way I ran into a group of 3 Thalmor on the road with a prisoner. I killed them and I don't think anyone saw it. Now when I return to White run the guards attack me. I am able to yield to the guards and remind them I am Thane which mellows them out but when I go in to the palace I am getting gang banged by everything in there. DID character smoked at level 22 -.- Anyone know what happened?

If you have a large enough bounty, I think guards at least will attack you on sight. Not sure if using the Thane excuse actually gets rid of the bounty or not. Also, you're not a stage 4 vampire, are you? That will make people instantly hostile.

Check your stats to see if you have a high bounty or if you are a stage 4 vampire, of course if you’re a vampire all locations would attack not just Whiterun. Other than that IDK.

Payin off a bounty is the only one which works.
Being Thane does not do squat.

Thalmor don't count as full kills. Pay the fine. If you look it's only like an assault. I'm sure you can afford the 40 gold. You guys are running around with several thousand gold and BMC about a measely 40 gold each?

Don't even bribe. The bribe is more expensive. I offed the three Thalmor right in Understone Keep right in front of witnesses sheathed my weapon, took one hit from a guard, and got tagged "Alright missy, you're under arrest. Pay up or or go to Cydna Mines. Your choice." I looked at my choices:

1) I'm a member of the Thieves Guild (pay 471 gold)
2) I'd rather die than go to jail.
3) I'll pay the fine (40 gold).
4) I'm Thane of your city.

Knowing about the Companions Glitch (they're GLOBAL GUARD faction and Thane doesn't clear your bounty), I paid the fine. So the choice was break my game or pay the fine.
