Mudcrabs and Arrows

How come mudcrabs are killed by arrows....that always seem to bounce right off their carapace!?!? This didn't happen in Oblivion as I recall...weird.

I suppose the arrows still do impact damage causing limbs to break or something as I'm pretty sure the force would still hurt it. Same reason you still damage bandits when they block your arrows with their shield.

Why is it picky? I shoot the awful creature™, bull's eye!!! It dies. And yet, I can pick up the arrow again three feet away, intact!!! Why are they an exception?

I can understand arrows going through skeletons and ghosts.....but Mudcrabs?

Impact damage.. Ok, I can imagine that. But why do the arrows ALWAYS bounce away in Skyrim, when in Oblivion, the arrows always went straight through their armor?

See, what happens is, when you fire an arrow at a mudcrab, you create a void in the time space contin....wait... why are we really talking about this.....

Asking something like this is like wondering why Justin Beiber is famous,...... just go with it.

How about we just assume that it has a soft spot on the top of it's head like a baby's and it just happens to hit there each time.

I saw a mudcrab the other day, then I took an arrow in the knee.........Because it bounced right back!!!!!

Didn't mean to sound picky. I suspected this was a bug, because the Oblivion mudcrabs are piercable..(die mudcrab, DIE)

I guess just game mechanics. Mudcrabs weren't build the same from an engine stand point, so the arrow ricochet was added in with Skyrim. I don't think it has anything to do with a lore perspective but if you want just say the Skyrim mudcrabs are tougher than their Oblivion brothers.

They certainly are, more dangerous too. Mudcrabs in oblivion did hardly any damage. In Skyrim they are easy to kill because they are slow and have low hitpoints, but they can do some serious damage at low level.
