Ive recently purchased Hjerim and all the upgrades. After entering the house there is blood everywhere and the secret room is full of body parts and bones and they are blocking weapon racks and other things. Ive read somewhere that you can buy a clean upgrade but i cant find this anywhere. I have completed the blood on the ice quest. Any ideas on how to remove the mess or is this one of many bugs?

Also in all of my other houses (breezehome, proudspire and the one in markarth) i cant activate or use any of the following:
weapon racks
mannequins
display cases
weapon plaques
bookcases

In breezhome i have used all of the aforementioned but i cant remove my equipment from them.

Any help would be appreciated, i have read up about this on wikia but it offers little help, i also read that there is update 1.4 due soon, if so does anyone know when it will be released?

You can't remove your weapons for the weapon plaques in Breezehome? I never heard of that bug.

Not on PC unfortunately, im on ps3. Yeah, ive put weapons on the racks and books on the bookcase but i cant remove either?

Hmm, your best bet would be to post in the PS 3 forums or look over the bug list there. Did Jorleif in Windhelm not give you a "cleaning option" when you bought Hjerim?

No, there was no cleaning option. The only options were for the usual decorations e.g. bedroom, living room and armoury e.t.c. I went back to him and there was still no cleaning option.

your in luck, the most of the bugs you mentioned above have just been fixed.
go to system update at the ps3 home screen and perform a system update i think its 4.2 then go on skyrim and it should give you the option to download a skyrim update if it doesnt just play the game for a while and then restart your computer, you should definatly be able to update it by starting the game again. hope this helps.

To get rid of the mess, you had to choose the 'cleanup' option before the living room upgrade. Unfortunately, the 'cleanup' option is the bottom one, and to see it, you have to actually scroll down in the dialogue. Would have solved a lot of problems if it was at the top of the dialogue list...
